Just got 3 new s...

#1

Post by BladeMaster »

Yesterday I went to my local dealer and bought 3 new knives. They didn't have any Black Hawks so I got:

- a Cricket w/ SpyderEdge

- a Delica 2 w/PlainEdge

- a Vesuvius w/shell inlay and 50/50Edge

These knives are so cool.

However, I do have one question about the Vesuvius. Is the shell inlay genuine abalone?

Thanks.

If it were real abalone, you'd probably see a small seam where they joined two pieces together to form the inlay. Done right, the only way you could tell would be to look very closely for interruptions in the pattern. An inlay that big would either be joined, fake, or VERY expensive.

Wise man say, forgiveness is divine. Remember that when your bites you!

hey, there is an interruption in the pattern. There is a perfectly straight line that goes halfway down the middle of the inlay and makes a 90 degree turn into the side of the inlay. Its done very nicely and is hard to notice, but it definately joins 2 patterns together.
