Endura / Delica - full flat FRN - need input
Hi Sal,
thanks for ask us like always...
I was reading all posts and i want add what i think about some requests..
I dont think can be used colors they will run against typical identity colors as yellow for marine, red for training orange for rescue, toxic green for USN so i'd like to not think at this colors.
I wish to suggest as others made here something like grey or desert brown clear colors are not ideal for who work with knives, just few hours and FRN clear turn dirty...
Another color i miss and i remember was very nice its the olive green was used for old black blade delica but i know any peoples dont like this one and, the difference between the olive green currently models will be not so clear..
So at last i confirm:
Grey
desert brown
blue navy
only the grey one will be little bit weak against dirty other two will be free from such problem.I understand marketing want all times something new and bright, maybe grey or brown are not so fashion as a purple but i think a brown handle or grey want be a super classic color without time and very elegant exactly in the spirit of endura-delica models workpieces elegant and perfect for all scopes...
Thanks again.

Grey, preferably a light one like that used on the C35 Q.
Brown, Coyote Brown or something close to it.
Blue, a dark, bright, blue. Noticeably darker than the blue Spyderhawk, but still bright and vibrant.
Purple, like the Forum Native or a hair darker.
Green, a real Kelly Green.

Another vote for CLEAR / transparent.
Maybe it would be interesting to see the 'life' beneath the 'plastic'.
Second, people prefer BRIGHT colors in choosing the product preference, black or grey are often considered as boring colors. Same thing with computers (I work for a major IT company now) - even the worst possible computer gets prefered by an non affi ELU, while it has a nice color, before a top machine which comes in black or grey.
Another idea maybe worth of thinking is to COMBINE multiple colors on the FRN knife (if its not a single mold):
scales - one color, the spacer which holds the leaf spring - different color.
So you could have a GREEN Endura with YELLOW spacer in Jamaican style.
Or a white-blue-red in US/Russia/Slovakia/France style.
You get the idea, just have a look on the Baliyo`s
Oh, one more thing, I can tell from speaking or showing my blades to non knife people - they always seem to think the FRN is only 'cheap plastic' and the SS handle is what represents the quality. Even if you explain that its the same type of high tech plastic that guns are made from, they consider it cheap looking.

I really like the gunmetal and olive drab suggestions personally...especially gunmetal.
My Spydies: Sharpmaker • Tasman Salt • Saver Salt • Ladybug Hawkbill Salt • Salt 1 • Blue/Gray Meerkat • Burgundy Meerkat • Manix2 Ltwt Translucent Blue • Manix2 Ltwt Blacked Out • Manix2 Backlock • Ladybug 1 Red • Blue UKPK • Tusk • Blue Lava • Dog Tag • Bug • Honeybee • Grasshopper • Stepped Ti Chaparral • McBee • AEB-L Urban
My choices for subdued (more acceptable to the general public I think):
- gunmetal grey
- coyote brown
- denim blue (similar to the waved versions handle color, but maybe a tad lighter)
My choices for brighter colors:
- orange like the Rescue 79mm that rides in my EDC bag
- bright royal blue, like he Rescue 93mm that rides in my truck
- toxic green, like the USN E4 I don't have
Thanks for allowing us to help choose Sal. I am stoked at the possibility of a FFG/FRN D4 and E4 in the lineup!

I'll throw another vote for gunmetal gray. I also like the translucent/natural, color as long as it's not a yellowed plastic look, think old headlights.
Dark green, burgundy, gray also works, where it is almost black, but not quite. It looks normal black at first glance, but not if you know what you are looking at.
Some may shoot me, but I still like the foliage green.
Thanks Sal, great idea.

Great idea with FFG, sounds like a cool project.
I would suggest one bright color (Orange) and a few darker ones (gunmetal gray, dark blue, and brown have already been suggested and could be nice).
I would definitely avoid any translucent or transparent FRN. It sounds great on paper, but just doesn't work on an EDC from my limited experience. I've been carrying a Leafstorm for the past week and I am starting to notice some white scuffing on the G10 for rubbing against my pocket. On a dark scale, it scuffs wouldn't be visible, but they definitely show up on the translucent G10. Doesn't have any impact on use, just a visual thing.

I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.
