Adding a clip has been done, either on a Ladybug, or a Jester which used the same handle the current Ladybug III uses. However, the clip was flat metal, not wire. It was mounted using a single screw through the lanyard hole.

What was used to keep the clip from rotating?

I find the waving much more impressive :o Does it (the wave) actually work on such a light/small knife?

It does if you carry it clipped and pull vigorously. It doesn't open all the way 100% of the time, but it at least opens far enough for me to reach the Spyderhole with my thumb.

Very interesting knives you've got there Yab. All look as functional as can be.

Looking very closely, I think I can see the faint etching of the word "Pilot". Is that clip from a ball-point pen?

Yes, part of it is. I took the clip off an old pen, soldered it to a screw, ran the screw through the lanyard hole and put a nut on the other side. It's ugly, but it works, which pretty much sums up most of my projects. ;)

Silver solder certainly does. You just have to be sure that the clip can take that much heat. Even lead-free plumbing solder is pretty strong if you get a good joint.

I did it a while back to a Finch. I got the idea from here a few months back. The lanyard hole on the Finch is about perfect for a 4mm bolt. The Ladybug lanyard hole is a little bigger I had to tap it with a 5mm. This is the only pic I got.
