Tasman - Spyderhawk comparison photo...

#1

Post by The Deacon »

Don't have the H-1 version, but it should have the same dimensions as the original VG-10 ones, so this should give a pretty accurate idea of the difference in size. For those who don't know the Tasman uses the old Delica 3 handle, while the Shpyderhawk uses the same handle as the Endura 3.

Thank you for the comparison pic Deacon. If you don't mind me asking, it looks like something is written on the blade of your Spyderhawk. What does it say? Was the Spyderhawk a forum knife at some point?

Yes, and thats exactly what is written on it. Here's a clearer shot of it...

Definately get the Superhawk and the Spyderhawk, as they should compliment each other very nicely in your collection/EDC rotation. The ergos and compression lock, not to mention the FFG blade make the Superhawk a winner. It is one of my all time favorite EDC's, and I tend to carry it every single day, along with an assortment of other blades. There is something about the efficiency that the Superhawk cuts with that pretty much makes it the ideal EDC in my mind, though the Stretch 2 CF is always with me as well. Those are two knives that I just find almost imposible to not carry. The good thing about my impending Spyderhawk purchase is it can give my Superhawk a break and myself a break for my EDC Hawkbill blade. I have a very high standard for sharpness, so every few times I use the Superhawk I have to give it a quick touch up on the Sharpmaker. Being able to park it a few days and have the wicked curve of the Spyderhawk in my pocket will be nice.

Thanx for the pic.

While I don't have a Tasman (YET!), I do have a SS Harpy (roughly the same size and shape of the Tasman, right?).

That photo really helps when trying to imagine the size of the Spyderhawk.

Size is close to identical. Handles are a bit different. Harpy uses same handle as Delica 2, which is shaped more like the Delica 1 and Delica 4 handles than like the Delica 3 handle which had to accommodate the barrel bolt style clip.

Paul, thanks a lot for the comparison.

I figured there must be huge difference, but thought there could be something besides the size, obvious, yet hidden from me. :)

Now it's all clear... and I want both

Great comparision shot. Wonder if there's any way to get Spyderco to send you a Spyderhawk salt so you can add a pic to this thread? ;)
