Planning my expedition

...to Great Smoky Mountain Kinfe Works. Probably my only serious opportunity to buy knives all year long. So far, here's my list: A Case Russlock, some kind of Case sheath knife with CV steel, a Spydie or two, and possibly a M.O.D. . Do you have any reccomendations for new Spydies?

Russlock, excellent choice. I have one and it's my school knife, along with 5 other Case brethren. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> What handle material are you looking at? I'd suggest PocketWorn Red, just because it feels so good in the hand.

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

I was looking at Red Bone or Rosewood but the Pocket Worn ones do look rather nice. I only wish they would make them in CV! That steel is a pleasure to sharpen on an Arkansas benchstone, and it gets razor sharp.

I do wish that Case offered most their knives in CV or stainless. Their stainless is good, it's just a bit tough to sharpen well, even with a 204.

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

...and the Russlock is my <i>favorite </i> Case and the only one handed ambidexterous opening one.

Okay, so here's my list so far:
Case Silver Script Russlock
Spyderco Meerkat (s-curve blade)
Case Amber Slab Side hunter or Fixed Blade (3 or 5 in., haven't decided yet)

One of my favorite non-Spyderco knives is the Russlock. I have a purdy one in natural bone and a "user" with yellow handle and CV steel.

<b>!! !! They make Russlocks in CV !?! </b> If that's true, forget Silver Script! I might get a CV one to use and a Silver Script one to, well to use also. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> But getting CV is my first priority, so I'll get whatever handle material is available with CV, pref. Silver Script or Pocket Worn Red Bone.

Okay, here's my revised list:
Spyderco Meerkat (reverse S curve)
Spyderco Forum Knife (It's a Wegner, right?)
Spyderco Lum Chinese (probably)
Case Russlock in CV steel if possible, Tru-Sharp Silver Script if not
Case Copperlock in CV if possible, Tru-Sharp Bone handled if not
Case Russlock Limited Edition if available
*whew*
But I still have a month or two before I go, so there will be some more revising to do. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
