For Sal--A Ti Military w/framelock?

#1

Post by KBR »

I heard about this concept Military from this thread, and I(for one) am anxious to find out more about it.......and what are the chances it will be put into production?

IMHO, a Ti Military with integral framelock would be the apex of this knife design.

Any idea when this might be made? I need to start saving, I want a lifetime supply which in actuality with Spyderco would be 1. I will need more than that though! :D

Sal,
Are there any other details you would want to slip out at this moment, like if both handles are going to be Ti or is one side going to be G10 with Ti on the lock side? Tip up/down?

Thank you.

I'm very excited about this one, after getting my first milli i want more and if this happens i will have to get one of these.

How about "etched" (like the SS Spin and Dragonfly) on the lock side and CF (in the Walker Sage texture) on the other. Should make a nice similar feeling texture on both side of the knife.
Lets see, Carbon Fiber, Titanium, and maybe a S90V (or 110V?) blade, framelock. Does it get more high tech? ;)

There was a thread a while ago about a Russian knifemaker who did the most beautiful mods I have ever seen on a Millie. Check it out ( No drooling please :D )

Unfortunately my Russian is about as good as my Swahili.

Enjoy!!!

Plain old titanium like on the Lum tanto's is perfect for me, I am not a huge fan of graphics on handles. "Plain" being sand or beadblasted like a Sebenza. I am not a big fan of graphics machined into handles, while I like the way some of them look I am always inclined to buy plain handles.

I would like to see either G10 or CF on the Non-Locking side

If there would be some magic way to squeeze a Hinderer Lock Stabilizer in there... that would be awesome

May I ask why you guys like differant materials on either side of a knife handle? I have handled a few knives that were g-10 one side and Ti the other and they didnt appeal to me. Any specific benefits or just a preference?

One possible explanation can be found at the link below with regards to the Strider SMF and SnG, both of which use titanium on the lock side and G-10 on the non-lock side...

Only if the G10 is...foliage green! :D

As others have mentioned, I don't see the appeal of different handle materials on the same knife. I would love to see a Military framelock in plain titanium, like the Ti versions of the ATR and Salsa.

While I do like the look of G10 with Titanium, even better is the added grip afforded by the G10 side.
