Foliage Green Lum Chinese ??

#1

Post by ClockWork »

For some reason I sense that there will be a run of Foliage Green Almite Lum Chinese folder in both Satin and Black blade....

Am I right?

Will there be a run of Foliage Green Lum Chinese?

Thanks

Sure hope not. With all the possible colors out there to choose from and possible with almite, doing another run in green, and a rather unattractive shade of green at that, would be kind of sad. Going the black bladed route would be even sadder. There's something particularly profane about weaponizing a knife as elegant as the Chinese Folder.

I'd also tend to think that if Foliage Green were to be used, it would be G-10, not almite. Spyderco seems to have purchased that in bulk and has a bunch of it to use up.

How about a Deep Blue? A purple wouldnt be bad, or even a gunmetal. But Foliage green on a Chinese? a Black blade on teh chinese? I would have to agree I wouldnt like it at all. its not a tactical knife, as the others have stated. It is a work of art, and its variations have to help not distract from that mentality.

I wish that Sal or Taz would pop in and go ahead and confirm this for me.

These knives aren't my idea. I also strongly dislike Foliage green. I just have a hunch they're coming.

Careful though. Some of the words you have chosen might be a bit... embarrassing, and... maybe a bit harsh.

Anyone have pictures of the early red ones that were few and far between? I heard that color looked really good but i was never lucky enough to see one in person.

i'd venture to say that if there's tons of FG G-10 to use up, a foliage green dodo would perhaps be more of a crowd-pleaser... :D or, well, at least the forumite crowd would be pleased...

the lum chinese is a truly amazing spydie -- one of the finest, most artful spydies ever produced. or production folders, for that matter. when i think about the idea of giving it a "tactical" overhaul (via foliage green G10... or almite???), i think about it losing its refined beauty as a gent's folder. that's why i think the concept might be "disasterous."

although, someone capable of doing a good photoshop rendering might be able to get me to think otherwise? i guess i'd have to see it first?

CF lum chinese... now that would be more to my taste... :D

And here is a very very poorly PSed version of a Foliage Green Lum

(Did I mention it was poorly done)

I'm not adversely affected by colors unless they are pink. I'll buy one for a good cause, but wouldn't carry a pink one unless it was the last spyderco on earth.

The thought of this green Lum certainly got a stronger reaction than I would have guessed beforehand.

I'm more interested to see if it will still be ZDP. If so, I'll certainly buy it. I still love ZDP, and will never get bored with it.

We'll see, won't we? Joe

When I first head about the sprint run of a new Bob Lum Chinese Folder, I had thought (and hoped) it might be higher end and done in something other than Almite. I was thinking Carbon Fiber - or Titanium.

I agree with Paul, the Chinese Folder is an elegant knife, and though I am actually very fond of Foilage Green G10, I don't think it (or any G10) would be suitable for that particular knife.

If there is to be another go at it, my hope again would be for CF scales.

And I do hope there will be another go at it :D

Just my two cents.

Thanks for the photoshop render, Clockwork... :D

I admit that the concept is still not really to my taste...

As a Lum Chinese fan, I might consider getting one, but there would be other spydies higher on the list...

We're planning a G-10 Lum Chinese folder for the future. We'd prefer to avoid black and foliage green. We're looking into other colors.

Way cool. It sounds to me like a good time for dark blue. ;)

We didn't think digital camo would be a good color for a Chinese folder.

I asked for digi camo just to be sure it's not an alternative. I'm happy with your answer. Thank you Sal! :)
