Buying and selling Spyderco knives here?

#1

Post by Ken Lau »

Sal,

Will you be setting up a section where we can buy and sell Spyderco knives? It occured to me that we're all here for a reason... and it'd be a great place to do it!

Whaddyathink?

We'll take it slow. Not sure of the entire plan yet.

If you decide to go forward with it, I'm sure that it'd be well supported.

Hmmm, sounds interesting. Maybe later for spydeXchange where forumites can trade their spydies... (:

It would be one thing to have individuals who have more Sypdercos than they have pockets coming here to sell the knife or two that they haven't carried lately. But having dealers like me selling in here, with frequent posts and maybe at steep discounts below either SFO or brick and mortar dealers for whom Spyderco's web site is also a service, could cause "friction."

James,
Didnt really think about that aspect to tell you the truth. If it may cause friction, could the trading be restricted to end users and collectors ie non dealers?

Ah Ken - Interesting you raised that point! I guess some avenues should be created for trading and exchange. This is the age of global Free-trade mah!

We think that at this time, we would prefer to keep in an "info only" forum. There are a number of reasons (some of them mentioned)

We're not trying to compete with other web dealers or trading posts such as Bladeforums.

We would prefer to avoid the potential friction that might occur when money gets involved. pricing, delivery, condition etc.

We don't have enough available manpower/time to moderate another fourm at this time.

Errr... any jobs vacancies at Spyderco to cope with the traffic? *hee-hee!* Oh, anyway, I'm glad to have signed in with this forum! It's food for the knowledge-hungry! Well, if the decision is adhere to infoXchange, I've got no problems at all with that. Having the ethics not to cause friction with others is a gentlemanly way of doing business and I totally agree with that!
