Spyderco for firefighter when off duty?

#1

Post by GarageBoy »

I'd like to get a firefighter I know a Spyderco for when he is off duty. On duty he has a Gerber Hinderer Rescue and loves it (one hand open and close, stout tip, serrations, etc)

He already has a ParaMilitary in plain edge. He likes stuff that's unique, but not gimmicky, so I'm thinking either Rookie or Salt I.

Any opinions? Thanks!

A Salt I in SE is a great working knife.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)

How about a G10 D4. It is a small hard working knife.

my off duty has been a d4 wave or the new rookie....also he might like the wave rescue or waved endura in a combo edge.

edit: i am assuming he is also from New York...the D'Allara might mean more to him and they are discontinued now.

Well, I haven't posted a comment here in a looong time, but this looked like a good one to come back on.......

Garageboy, the Salt is an excellent choice. I don't know if you've given it to him yet, but he will surely appreciate it. I mainly carry a different brand of knife on duty in my bunkers, but I also ALWAYS carry my Spyderco Pacific Salt with Yellow Handle and SE Blade clipped in my khakis for my class c uniform, and also usually carry that same Pacific Salt or an Endura 4 off-duty in my back pocket (along with a different knife brand in my front pocket).

He will love the Salt!!!

Good choice. Might also get some wear in his station pants.
