There will soon be one less source for older Spydercos

Post by The Deacon »

Just visited John F. Jensen's website, looking to see if he still had a particular knife in stock. Seems like he's decided to retire and is closing up shop. Figured a heads-up was in order since it will probably the last chance to get a few of older disco'd models at a decent price. Also, for the first time, he has his current production Spyderco stock listed too. I've always enjoyed dealing with John, so I'm sorry to see him go. But I also know how much I'm looking forward to the day six months from now when I walk out the office door for the last time, so I wish him well.

I totally agree. I really wanted to get a Salsa from him but the no overseas shipping policy makes that impossible. :(

Too bad. I only purchased from John once but seemed really great to deal with. I had ordered two of those green Ladybugs, along with a few other :spyder: , but received only one. I emailed him and he sent a prompt response saying it was their error and he would put it in the mail the next day. Didn't seem right to make him ship a ladybug special so I just had him put it on hold till I make an order sometime this month. I guess I should make that order before his inventory gets bought out. ;)

A sad day!

I have dealt with John many times in the past and have got to know him pretty well over the years. He is a true gentleman and has the best set moral compass I have ever come across. He has been considering retiring for some time and now that the decision has been taken will be very much missed in the knife world.
I just want to thank him for all of the help he has been to me personally over the years.

Regards, Ken

That Linda Karst set really deserves a good home :) . I have the larger knife and it is one of my most treasured possessions. Here are a couple of pictures of mine in case anyone hasn't seen them before.

cheers,
clay

Well good for him to retire. He was one of the best for customer service. He really came through for me.

Also, he actually had a website that listed how many he had in stock. Painfree ordering from John.

Yeah, hate to see him go, but I'm glad John can retire and enjoy the fruits of years of labor.

I am actually really bummed that he's leaving the business, but I'm glad he's going to get some time to relax. I've only bought from him a couple of times, but those times actually left an amazing impression of his dedication to making customers happy.

I told him in an email once that I'd be a more frequent customer, but haven't done so due to debt. Before he closes up shop I plan to make good on my promise.

A very wise man once told me "Eat to live; don't live to eat." ...To my knowledge that's the only stupid thing he's ever said.

I always enjoyed checking out his website. I dealt with him on several occasions and have had nothing but pleasurable experiences.

Not too long ago his website was an excellent place to pick up Spyderco kitchen knives on the cheap.

I'm sorry to say that I haven't heard of John Jensen or his web site before. The Spyderco section look quite nice. Best wishes, John, on your retirement!

Thanks, Paul, for letting us know of John's retirement and for pointing out his web site. I just placed an order for a few of those older :spyder: s.

I want to give a big public THANK YOU to John.
I order one of the Lady Bug-Photon combos and noticed he hit the wrong decimal point and under charged me.I called him to let him know to recharge it so he would not have to mess with it when he got his statement in.He recharged me but with a big discount.
John you are a class act.Thank You very much.
