Dkpk

Post by Benner »

I have been considering getting a DKPK as I live in the UK and want to be as carefull as possible about what I carry.

My question is this, even though the hole is "filled" is it still possible to open the blade one handed?

Many thanks

Yes, but it takes practice, even for the long time Spyderco user.

Not by means of the hole it is.
Your thumb slides right out.
Dont know about Spyderdropping.

That is what I am wanting to hear. :)

Ideally I'd want one very hard to open one handed. It just looked as though it would still be quite easy with the hole it had.

Many thanks for the response.

Just tried it Piet - it can be done - just make sure to put pressure and direction correctly ;)

Dropping works as well, however more difficult then my average Spydie

How is the DKPK overall? I am really tempted to get one to EDC and it certainly looks like a good contender. :)

I carry a DK every day and must say it is fairly easy to open via the "hole"...I would still argue it is not a onehand opener ...at least by danish knifelaws as it says specifically that if it is made to be a one hand opener it is illigal.....and since it is not and in fact made FOR the danish knifeusers I would say it is ok by most.....could a LEO be able to open it one handed....really not sure....probably ....

DKPK is awesome! One of my favorite Spydercos and in my EDC rotation since I got it. Great size and ergos, has stayed wicked sharp despite some pretty hard use. This is one of my faves.

Every now and again I try to open one handed or Spyderdrop...and am successful about 30% of the time

Did the DKPK come in orange G10?

If it didn't, would the orange handles off of a UKPK be a straight swap?

A quick question for the experts. Does anyone know of a dealer in the U.S. that carries this model. I would love to add one to the collection, however overseas shipping charges might make this a bit expensive. Thanks for any advice you might offer.

I think a call to the Spyderco Factory Outlet would be your best bet.

I have a DKPK and a couple of UKPKs. As you are in the UK why the DKPK over the UKPK? It really isn't that much smaller and one handed opening isn't a legal problem here just yet. If all it is is a size issue then maybe it may be worth your while to wait for the upcoming Urban.
One handed opening of a DKPK is possible but it's a right PITA. In this regard the DKPK does exactly as intended but if one handed opening is genuinely required then I'd suggest you stay away from the DKPK.

P.S. It may be academic anyway as the DKPK is getting pretty hard to find. ;)
