I handled an ATR once and it was absolutely the smoothest action I'd felt. My Delica 4 is pretty darn slick too.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)

I think you guys are all missing the boat. ;) :D

Have any of you handled a Ball Bearing lock model other than the Dodo? The D'Allaras (Rescue and Drop Point) are like greased glass, and the Poliwog I just picked up makes the D'Allaras feel rough by comparison.

Hey Guys, You're missing out. Try the Vielle, either one, for a superb opening.

My ATR is the smoothest I have followed by my Para. I think the Compression lock has something to do with that...
Smoothest backlock tho would be the Chinook III, followed by the full size Manix, and a close third is the H1 Mariner. I'm thinking the heavier blade makes the action "feel" smoother. These are just the knives I have tho...

My P'Kal has the smoothest action, followed closely by my Captain, which just barely edges out my Poliwog. After my Poliwog, my Volpe has a smooth action, once you get the blade opened. The next :spyder: after these with a fairly smooth action would be my Manix.

Of the blades I have, the following stand out for their smooth action:

1) Dodo
2) Yojimbo
3) Kopa
4) Caly 3
5) Caly Jr

Also, I must say that the Lil Temp's I have handled have been buttery smooth as well.

I would expect the upcoming Viele Phoenix to be as smooth as any of the above.

For ridiculously smooth I believe the t-mag is unbeatable and in its own unique class of smoothness.

I don't have any smooth Spydies, because I like a nice stiff action. Almost all of my lock backs have been tinkered with to the point that the blade is barely sucked in when closing. I really have to use my thumb to open it.

And so are all of my other knives ;)
