ED Schempp Persian Sprint Run?

#1

Post by SSB »

Who thinks we need an Ed Schempp C83 Large Persian sprint run with maybe a G-10 handle? Instead of micarta . And etched bolsters instead of the plain ones!(Handle material & bolster style my opinion only, let's hear yours!)
It would make an excellent user!
What do you think?

Voted yes, but let's keep the Micarta (enough G-10 Schempp knives on the way already.... Khukri, Barong etc); but the etched bolsters sounds very interesting! Instead of micarta, I bet wood handles would fit excellent, too. Its just such a classic looking folder....

Dennis

EDIT: Tony beat me by 3 mins... wood shall it be :-D ... and the damascus idea sounds very cool. Imagine bolsters like on the 25 ann. Delica...... hmmmmmmmmm.......

Sure, Ed's Large persian style is pretty cool. I agree with having etched bolsters for better grip. Could be a repeating Spydie logo, that would look neat. Canvas or linen micarta would have reasonable grip. I think there are enough G-10 handled knives around, YMMV of course

For Maximum Pimpness:
Antique ivory paper micarta scales with black or red liners, and subtly etched bolsters. :)

**Yeah, damascus or Mokume bolsters!!**

I just would like some handle material with some texture!
No smooth micarta ! Any other options for a non-smooth handle?

Grooved or 'chiseled' micarta , in the style of many of Jens Anso's knives

I do think we have found one poll, where no one is going to vote "no."

I voted "no" only because that knife would be to large and scary for me to EDC. It would probably be cost prohibitive for me anyway. I realize it's not larger than the Military abut just the upswept blade freaks people out.

If I had unlimited funds......the vote would be "yes".

I voted "yes", but with the condition that it has an adjustable pivot pin. Like how the Caly 3 was planned to be pinned construction all around, but was switched to a screw pivot for people like me.
1. I like to be able to adjust the tension of the pivot.
2. those Canadian customs people are anal about loose pivot pins and it needs to be painfully tight if it's going to pass inspection.

The pivot was really the only thing that stopped me from getting one in the first place. I love the knife, just need a different pivot.

I voted yes,

but I would suggest absolutely minor change (Sprint run must be different by Sal's rules). IMHO C83 Persian is the masterpiece as is. So I would suggest to change color of the bug, instead of gold let's make it black or instead of phillips screws on the clip, put torx and I will be happy to buy few more.

My top choices Natives5, Calys, C83 Persian

Persian with bolsters made of Ed's spyder mosaic damascus. ;) and black mother of pearl handles.

That knife is elegance embodied, putting G-10 on the Persian would be like drawing the Mona Lisa in crayon.

I'm not entirely sold on the mosaic bolsters, but black MoP handles would be exquisite!

I think the damascus bolsters and a nice wood handle would be great.

I think the only way someone should be allowed to vote no is if they have either had the knife fail on them or they really think it would eat up Spyderco's budget to fullfill another knife they would rather see produced. Not having funds or just voting no for the sake of no is mean :( . This model is the shizniddlebam! Thanks Mr. Schempp!
