What watches do you wear?

#1

Post by hy »

Hi people, a bit off topic but I was just wondering what watches you spydernuts prefer? Carlos, since you're a watch expert, I would particularly be interested to see what brands you wear or recommend. I wear a Tag Heuer 6000 series as edw (everyday wear) and a Nike digital for going to the gym.

Hi hy,

I mostly wear Seikos. I've uploaded a pic of my EDC watch, a rare mil-style which I had to import direct from Japan.

Money aside, I prefer brands like Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Breguet, etc. At the mid-tier: IWC, upper-end Japan market Seikos, and Rolex. Above all I place the independent watchmakers like Philippe Dufour, George Daniels, Svend Andersen, etc.

I have a 7 year old and still keeping perfect time Wenger Swiss Army Watch. Even though it's probably a bottom of the line watch for the company, it's sort of unique with it's hands that look like a Swiss Army Knife. RKBA!

Hy,

I have several watches, 3 Seikos, a Ti Citizen Eco drive, a Casio dive watch, a Quiksilver dive watch and my pride and joy... a Zodiac Super Sea Wolf. Try and find one of those around, new in 1970 for 150.00. Good to 75 Atm. 650 ft. You will find Sea Wolfs but the Supers are rare! My father recently gave it to me, he bought it new. Back in the day the Navy Seal teams used them, it is quite unique. Besides Guns and Knives, I like watches ! Good question Hy!!

Guys, thanks for the responses.I've always thought that knives, watches, torches, pens and other gadgets always go together..ie if you like one of these, there's a high chance you'll like the others. Carlos, I'm ashamed to say I've never heard of those independent watchmakers but have always wanted a Patek Philippe.....maybe one day.

I've been wearing a Tudor Submariner for quite a few years now. It's a fairly simple watch, stainless steel bracelet and case, nothing fancy. It's a nice blue face. I love it.

Seiko Kinetic 3m22, Ti case and band with nice gold accents, it's so light it's a pleasure to wear. I have a few others, Swiss Army, Casio and another Seiko, but the Kinetic is my favorite.

Bulova Marine Star as EDW (every day watch) because my favorite movie is "Blade Runner" (if you can make the connection, you are also a fan ) and because I have had Bulovas for as long as I can remember, and EternaMatic when I don't want to wind anything up or buy batteries (KonTiki Edition, I have one for the 20th anniversary and one for the 40th anniversary of Heyerdahl's trip). These two belonged to my dad, but I confiscated them from him.

Casio G-Shock or classic Timex on the weekends. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking!

Citizen or Bulova chrono during the week.

Dressy watch would be two-tone Movado.

I would LOVE to see a watch made with the Spyderco logo imprinted on the watch face. Swiss or high-end japanese movement would be nice.
