The Spyderco Story - The New Shape Of Sharp
The Spyderco Story - The New Shape Of Sharp
I'm about to buy a copy of this book. I love reading and this seems to be perfect reading material for me. I never knew this existed until just last week.
Who here has read this? :spyder:

Aside from being a bit "dated" now, since it only covers up to the late '90s, it's a very interesting and enlightening book. Have had my hard cover copy a few years, glad they brought it back in soft cover, the hard cover ones were pretty hard to find for a bit.

Spyderco Evolution - The Next step in Sharp Stuff :) or Spyderco - The Next Generation :p
They SHOULD pen a sequel to the Golden Years of Spyderco edition. An insider's story on the newer generation of Spydies would be worth reading about too.

I've had my soft copy for a couple of years now. I bought it after I got first my couple of Spyderco Natives as I was interested in the Spyderco story. Pretty good read on how Sal & Company got started and their ideas on how the company should be run. Worth the read.
It's better to have knife and not need it than to need a knife and not have it.

Still shopping around for a copy. I'm going for the softcover as these are more comfortable to read. This book is going to be read from cover to cover!
An updated version in the near future would be great.

Yes, but you'll definitely enjoy reading the book as far as it goes. Highly recommended!amen74 wrote:Still shopping around for a copy. I'm going for the softcover as these are more comfortable to read. This book is going to be read from cover to cover!

*BUMP*
Is there a new Spyderco book in the works? Being almost a decade since "The New Shape of Sharp" came out, I think it's time for a sequel! :)
It could include cool stuff like the BaliYo, the Kopa series, the Ed Schempp collaborations, new steels, the Byrd line, the Mule Team project, Sprint Runs, the Deacon's Kiwis, photos by Wouter, mention of this wonderful forum, and so much more... :D
What do you say, Sal?

Don't leave us hanging
Truly I've always wondered why there wasn't a sequel to Kenneth Delavigne's great book. It just doesn't make sense to bring us up to 1999-2000 and then drop it at that point.
If Mr. Delavigne isn't in a position to write another literary classic about Spyderco then I suggest that our own walking computer "The Deacon" to go ahead and write an exhaustive book about Spyderco from 1999 to 2009 era.
You could have Dr. Hannibal Lecter do the Chapter on Hawkbills. You could have Dr. Snubnose & Bram Frank do the tactical chapter. There are 3 or 4 people you could get to do a chapter on collaborations. I say we get started :D
