which torx for pivot adjustment

#1

Post by aero_student »

What size torx driver is used to adjust the pivot screw on the military?

Thanks

Also, does anyone have a list of the sizes of torx drivers that spyderco uses?

I don't have a Military, so I can't give you any info on that; but all of the Torx pivots on my Spydies are T9; and all of the clip/construction pins are T6.

If the Military is T15, it's possible that it was chosen due to being a more available driver size than T9.

This is kinda funny actually, I wish they would pick a size and be done with it.

My guess is the T-15 was the older eccentric pivot, the T-10 is the newer version and the folks who think theirs are hex are mistaken. The good news is that the cheap little Husky HD-74502-T Mini Torx Driver set from Home Depot contains both of those sizes, plus the T-6 which seems standard for 3 screw clip screws, and the T-8 and T-9 found on some wire clips, backspacers, lockbar pivots and even a blade pivot or two.

Deacon,
Either my eyesight has diminished even more or you are mistaken. Cuz this looks like a hex head to me.

A T10 will fit the current Millie pivots as will a 3/32" hex driver (allen). I looked at mine under a good light and my 10X loupe and it is definitely a hex head screw. The sides of the "pocket" are straight from corner to corner. Unlike a torx that are more "scalloped" looking.

Edited to add:

Tank,

It looks like we both had our FG D2 Millies "under the scope" at about the same time.
