Confused about the new G10 Delicas/Enduras

#1

Post by El Comanche »

I had read the new Delica/Endura G10s were going to be full flat ground. I downloaded the new catalog and it shows they are sabre grind both in the pic and text. Can anyway clarify this further? I was pretty excited about a ffg g10 delica- E

It's merely a catalog typo. Sal and Kristi have confirmed that the new G-10 Delica and Endura are full-flat ground. :)

Why is everyone except Spyderco calling these Delica/Endura 5's? They are listed as 4's in the catalog...

The catalog only shows PE available. Is this true? I hope they make them available is SE or at least CE as well.

I think they are PE only. I like PE with FFG, I don't care for it as much in other grinds. But I would really like the SE option. I'd buy one of each.

These newest Delicas and Enduras are not version 5. They have new material but the guts and form factor are v4. I suggest we go to 4.1/4.2/4.3 etc.
Not really all that slick ;)

That might save a few folks some disappointment when the real D5/E5's are released....

Right now, the Delica variant is scheduled mid-APRIL (according to my dealer).

The Endura model normally comes out after the Delica. (see the pink ones i.e.)

ROFL :D

I think it was me who coined the Delica 5/ Endura 5 name. I meant it as a joke....BUT.... with different steel, different handle type, different grind I thought it fitted the bill of a new version number ;)

Sorry if I am causing confusion, but it feels like a D5/ E5 to me. Will see what :spyder: will call it when it is released..... can't wait !

Cheers big ears

I was under the impression that they were still in VG-10. That is also what the catalogue says

whoops :p

I thought it was gonna be ZDP189, but may have gotten confused in my old age with yet another Spydie release :D

Strike that off the list. Other changes apply, though a ZDP would be nice :p

I vote for the name of D4.1 :p

Yes, Daniel, it is a new grind and handle material, but on the face of it, it's the same knife. There's not the obvious difference there like there was with the upgrade from D3 to D4. So, with all due respect, I think I'm going to have to vote "nae" to your proposition of the "D5" namechange. :(

Especially since I'm holding the catalog in my hand, and it lists them as Delica/Endura 4.

...of course, it also lists them as saber-ground (typo), so I suppose there's still time for Sal and the Gang to run with your suggestion. :p :D

P.S. 500th post!
