It is indeed very sad to see such a great man and knife maker die.

My condolances to all who knew him, both through his work and as a person.

Prayers going out to his family. That is really sad. He made some **** fine knives and from what I heard was a super guy.

He will be missed.

My sincere condolences to his family.
I know him only by his knife designs and they were among the very best I've seen.
Indeed a sad news to me and to all knife lovers.

A Memorial Tribute?

#53

Post by JD Spydo »

I hope that I am not out of order here but I have a suggestion to offer up. I think it might be a great honor to Mr. Bob Lum & Family if there could be one of his Spyderco models put back on line as a Memorial & Tribute to his superb work & designs.

I don't know how you all would feel about that but he truly was one of my very favorite knife designers and I would like to see one of his superb works as a remembrance model. I feel like a true artist has passed and I can't think of a better way for his blade admirers to honor him.

It wouldn't even matter much to me which design it would be. I don't even know if it would be feasible under the circumstances. Anyway just a suggestion and I will personally miss his genius designs. I think he is a designer who should be honored somehow. Thank you all and may GOD comfort the Lum family at this time.

Perhaps we'll see the folding Lum tanto or the fixed bade Lum tanto in a memorial Sprint Run. The previously-released versions seem to be selling very strongly on the secondary market.

I agree.
Remember the discussion we had here about the handle colour of the upcoming ZDP Chinese?

The problem with a memorial knife is that it looses meaning when it gets passed around as just another collectors piece
