Got The Byrd.......Flight!!!

#1

Post by raven »

Hey All, I just received my Byrd Flight in G-10 :D !!! This is a Vey Impressive Knife. Will be putting it through the Law Enforcement Paces. A Very Well Built Knife. Crazy sharp out of the box, comfortable in hand, "Rock Solid" lock-up, and Nowhere as heavy as it looks.......Very Light. The one thing I do like, is it came with a "Black Clip" and Tip up carry  .

As I look at the design, I noticed it somewhat resembles the older "Renegade and Blackhawk" Design......Hmmmm???

This is my 1st Byrd Knife, and most would think I would have already purchased the "Raven"......Nope, Not Yet. A raven without a "Raven" :p . It appears after getting this Byrd...........More will be "Flying" in :D :p ;) . Just thought I'd share and Thanks for listening. Take Good Care All and Be Safe Always. Review Pending........If The "Family" would like???

God Bless :)

Raven, The G-10 Flight IMHO is best of the Bryds out there to date....The Raven is also a cool knife but not as nice as the G-10 Flight....Now if we could have a G-10 Crossbill that would be something....Doc :D

I had just been thinking that the G-10 Flight seems like the perfect knife to introduce someone to Spyderco with:

- At $35.95 MSRP, it won't scare anyone away by being "such an expensive knife".
- It has G-10 scales, which will turn people on to G-10, for one thing, but also make people realize that a knife with quality materials is better.
- It's Hollow Ground, so it's "Crazy sharp out of the box" (to quote raven).
- What I believe is the most important aspect of the Flight appealing to a Non-Spyder-Nut: It appears familiar. Almost everything about this knife, from the clip-point blade grind to the faux hilt at the pivot, is what most knife manufacturers try to do with their knives. But the most important difference in my mind is that Spyderco has managed to emulate the "form before function" styling that most knife companies use, while still making a great knife.

In short, I think that one of the things that turn people away from Spyderco is the supposed "ugliness" of their knives. But I believe that if people saw a Flight, they would immediately gravitate towards it; only to find themselves stuck in orbit, unable to escape the world of Spyderco! :D
Back from an extended hiatus.
