Excuse me? You're letting go of the Manix? Did I read that right ? The Manix? Big, sturdy folder, very tough, one that I want, etc. ? That Manix ?

Now I'm angry. And I already had a bad day.
And I still need to do my dishes.

Some of those surprised me too. I am okay with all of them, I think, as long as I can get me the UKPK's younger brother. What's it called? The Urban?

That may be so about the Manix, but apparently people don't buy them.

I'm kind of suprised about the UKPK, especially since Sal hinted about different colors for the UKPK in '08 in one thread or another. Maybe there was mix-up in names and the UKPK's slot will be filled with the Urban? :D

BTW for any pure collectors out there, better get a few of those T-mags. Special design, special materials, custom collaboration, and very short production run! Introduced in mid 2007, discontinued in 2007.

guess that means the manix has been bumped up to next knife purchase (unless I win something else on ebay I didn't expect to for the max bid I put in...)

Very sad to hear that the manix is discontinued. I've liked it since the first time I saw it, and I've planned to get one for a couple months. However, knives like my dodo, goddard, and volpe have also been important purchases. I like and want a few knives onthat list, but none of them as much as I want the Manix. At least THIS time around, I WILL get one before they're all gone :D .

Does this mean the models will be discounted?

Discontinued, not discounted. If anything, the prices will sky-rocket.

Good to see the small persian stay. The kris will eventually skyrocket in price for sure. About the UKPK, I think they mean that it will not be made in that color anymore.

The general trend after a knife is discontinued is for the retailers to clear them out. Many times the price do drop and as more people buy them and realize how great they are, interest is stirred and the prices begin to creep up. Just my observations from past experience.

Many of these will be missed. I need to get a few before it is too late.
I am really shocked over few of them. :(

So now I have some hope that my ideal knife might be made:

* built as tough as the Manix
* lock back design
* shaped like the Para, but with a 3-1/2" blade
* G10 handles and full liners
* similar blade shape of the Manix
* a front pocket friendly carrying profile (not as wide as the Manix)

I'm anxiousyl awaiting the new line up. If my ideal knife isn't listed, I may have to go ahead and get a Mini Manix anyway. However, I have faith that Sal will still offer something for the guys that want a heavy duty, yet pocket friendly, i.e. easy to carry, folder.

Fingers crossed for some great knives in 08.
My collection so far: Delica SS PE, Delica 4 FRN PE, Endura FRN SE, Manix 2 G10 PE. Since I've officially been bitten by the bug, the collection is sure to grow... :)

Hmm, D'Allara DP is done, too?

I think it would be best if I had one to call my own... :o
To go along with the D'Allara Rescue, of course.

Wow... the T-Mag might have had the shortest life span of any knife I have seen in recent memory! I would look to get one, if a collector.

I am surprised to see both Manix's go. I heard rumor of the larger one, but both, that does sort of shock me.

The rest don't surprise me, but I do think I need a UKPK.

Priced drop for a time, certain models do rise. In most cases, they are knives that have a cult following. Last year, I was able to buy blue Yojimbo's for a song for quite sometime.

I'm too very surprised that both Manix's are out  I thought UKPK has its own dedicated market, no?

It's a shame to see the Manix getting discontinued. Hopefully its successor will be as tough and beefy. Mine sees heavy use all the time... speaking of which, maybe it's time for me to stock up on all the Manixes I'll ever need in my lifetime (just one?). I'm really surprised that BOTH the Manixes are going to go, but I never really liked the idea of the Mini-Manix...

I'm very surprised about the UKPK, but it could mean there are more plans for it in different colors, perhaps it's where all the "extra" foliage green G-10 is going to go?
