Thanks guys!

Now, I'd tell you how I got the image, but, you know, then I'd have to...well, never mind.

Hmm, a job with the CIA/FBI/NSA would have been perfect. Oh well, now that I'm married with children (no pun intended), I relegate my career to lurking around in computers & laptops. Hey, wait a minute, isn't that what those spooks do anyway? *LOL*

Hmmm, it could also be a Pro-Grip. In the picture, I can't really tell if the handles are really G-10 or FRN. It might be a Wegner but the "hump" looks more pronounced, more like a Pro-Grip.

Ok, time to do some digging. Anyone know someone from the studios in Hollywood?

Thanks! You've solved the Spyderco mystery. It does look like a Wegner...

Kahz, Sword and Shield and all you Tolkienites thanks for the thumbs up on Lord of the Rings. The critics are shredding it but, they're usually wrong anyway ~IMO (insert smile here)

Wegner seems like it to me (Yoda-like talk). I can't make out the other one, though...

Joyce, well, critics will be critics will be critics... I have heard many comments they make about the movie being inconclusive. I think they need to read the books again to understand just why it is so. Also, be prepared, it's long (3 hrs.), but _for me_, it was too short. Go watch it, enjoy it, and if you don't like it, oh well, at least you will have your own opinion to count on and no one will tell you about it, right?

After watching it, this guy has very good criticism for the film. Harsh, but I think he has several good points. Being a die hard fan, I accept them, but I still enjoyed the movie.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled program.

inconclusive...?
Its the first of three movies they made on this trilogy. The three are completed, they will release them one per year. I fell asleep last night watching the Rankin/Bass production of "The Hobbit" with John Huston's doing the voice for Gandalf. And have been listening to a BBC production of LOTR on CD on my Rio Volt today. Will go see the new movie next week.

Tolkien Immersion.
Its good for Precious.....Yes. Yes.

Hi Kahz,

I also saw it on the opening day, though at 10am not 12:01am.

I agree that it was too short -- by 20 or 30 minutes. There wasn't enough time spent on the meeting of Strider and the hobbits, and not enough time on the events in Lothlorien either. Hopefully there will be a "Directors cut" on DVD that's 3.5 hours long.

Carlos,

I couldn't agree with you more. I am just a bit annoyed about the "Arwen incident", especially since I wanted to see Glorfindel on his white horse (yes, a crush... ), but I can live with it. Many Tolkienites can live without Bombadil, but I still would have liked to see that AND the Barrow Downs.

Hmmm... this is somehow related to Spydies, right?

Clay,

I am looking most forward to receipt of my "Kangaroo Kajones Karry Kase". I haven't seen any sign of it yet. Have you received your Centofante? I don't suppose so, or we'd have likely heard.

Jeff.

If I had a camera I could have a pic of a XL sack up. What size did you send him Clay?
drawstring or snap.

Jeff,

Should you decide to become a collector after receiving Clay's offering....I found in a catalog of medieval weaponry a candy dish from Spain made of something lost by a VERY large bull.

"Holds up to a pound of your favorite candy, for $39.95."

That'll kill a sweet tooth!

Jeff,

No sign of the Centofante and Gordon hasn't given me any details of the shipping. I'm assuming it's on its way as my CC has been debited. The gunmetal blue Chinese Folder arrived a couple of days ago and it was ordered at the same time.

Chinook, I would say the size would be "Medium Marbles". There is a natural taper to the neck and a draw string closure. It has been stamped "Lucky Pouch" but one would have to ask lucky for whom, certainly not the poor 'roo .

Kahz, I read LOTR about 25years ago and it is still my favourite book. Must be time for a reread. Can't wait for the movie.

Clay,

I sure hope you receive the knife soon. I'm disappointed that he has not provided you with shipping details, as that is just good form to say the least. Please advise me of any follow up that you would like me to do with regard to this order. I can go to the store and speak to Gord in person if you decide you would like me to do so. Please keep this in mind.

Joyce,

That sounds like quite a dish! I'll definitely need to get one of those.

Jeff.

My wife gets an abundance of catalogs. One had an item that had me grimacing. A walking staff or cane that used to be very dear to a rhinoceros. The thing was 3 feet long and "Length can be trimmed to size"

Clay,

LOTR is one of my favourites as well, along with _Foucault's Pendulum_ by Umberto Eco and several others, but these two I can read and re-read w/o stopping or getting bored. The only other book I have read more than these two is one called _Plutonia_ by a Russian author, Vladimir Obruchev. Good to know you are also a Tolkien fan, I respect you EVEN more now.

Chinook, so, from a rhino? Ouch, poor rhino! I had never heard of that. I am amazed at the variety of knowledge in this forum, aside from Spydies, of course.
