Spyderco Yin and Yang Kitchen knives

How are these? I assume they are as great as the folders we all know and love, but I want to ask anyway. Also, which one is the "better" one to buy? I'm not sure I want to spend $86 on the pair right now.

Did you see the thread running concurrently "Spyderco Kithcen Knives Roll Call"? You'll find a lot of fans sounding off there. As I said in that thread, my Yang kicks my fancy Henckels around all day long and calls them names. You just can't compare 420 or 440 (or whatever the Hencks are made of) to VG-10 and call it a fair comparison.

I only own the Yang because I already have lots of serrated kitchen knives I don't use. The Yang works very well as a tomato knife by the way. No need for serrations, it's sharp and thin enough to do the job with flying colors.

I love the Yang. I'm a Yangmanic. My most used Spydie, hands down.

The same here. Even my wife stopped to use our Henckels after I bought Yang. It took her little longer to start using serrated knives.

Hi, carrot,

I use my Yin or Yang every day. They're the best kitchen knives I've ever used. If you want to start out with just one, I'd recommend the Yang. It's easier to make straight up and down slices through thick substrates with the Yang. Later,

Funny that you asked now! Today I got Yin + Yang I ordered for my son's student domicile. Just now both knives are on the table and I've to say I'm really impressed, sharp (as usual) - lightweights compared to our Ed. Wüsthof's - quality is like custom made :)

Great kitchen knives from :spyder: -co!

If you can only buy one, go with the yang. It can take care of pretty much anything you're doing in the kitchen.

I've used some other more expensive ones, but these are my favorites

Gave a Yin to my Dad last Christmas. He took another Yin from my inventory later, so he and Mom could slice in the kitchen at the same time. They don't even want a Yang, they love the serrations!
