Went out this week deer hunting in West Texas, and managed to shoot a nice one at 230 yards. This was my first time deer hunting so a friend offered to gut, skin snd quarter the deer. He had a dull Puma Skinner so I offered him my Military. I watched him slice, hack, and pry this deer apart all the while saying 'man, this is a sharp knife!'. I have heard people say the the 440V is brittle, so I let him hack away at the pelvic bone and other joints thinking that if it was going to fail I wanted to find out now. No problem.
The knife did an amazing job of slicing that deer up. Even after the front third of the blade had gotten a little dull it still sliced through meat like a hot knife through butter. The geometry of that blade just makes for an incredible slicer. When used like this you can really appreciate the long handle of the Military and the grip options it allows. At the end it was just covered with blood and tissue, but with the open handle it was a breeze to clean it out in the kitchen sink with a little dishwashing detergent.
I ended up buying a Military as gift to give to the owner of the ranch and a Sharpmaker for the man who helped me clean the deer. I know they will get a lot of use out of them.
Great design Sal,
Rick
Putting my Military to good use.
