It's not just NY and it's not just eBay.

Interesting, I didn't see that. I saw a few states were gradually being taxed. Didn't realize it was that many!

If that's the case, you'd think Ebay would realize they are going to take a major hit in sales, and maybe offer more coupons??

CutleryShoppe has their Hap40 Orange Zome Endura on sale for $95. Just placed my order. Near impossible to pass at this price. :spyder:

It was less than the ZDP-189 Endura, somewhere around $110-$115 I believe.

You are correct. They are usually $113.

This morning on Ebay I've noticed a few spyderco knives being advertised as "tax free". Just FYI.

I couldn't pass it up either. That is a good deal on a nice chunk of HAP40 on one of my favorite models.

The days of no sales tax on internet purchases will soon be over.

What I am having a hard time wrapping my head around is states charging sales tax on all sales. For example, I recently sold a used game on ebay to an individual in Iowa. Ebay was forced to collect sales tax on a sale between two individuals for a used item. I get collecting sales tax for a purchase from a business but not for private party. I imagine it's only a matter of time before states require PayPal to collect sales tax on goods/services transactions.

I think it's just going to drive more traffic to Craigslist. Then we'll see a nationwide Craigslist type amalgamator, then the feds will try to find a way to force sales tax on that site, and a new site will develop...all things cyclic imply futility.

Optics Planet just sent me a notice that my order Backorder from April 4, 2018 for a Para 3 Maxamet is in stock. I ordered it with a 10% coupon back then for $153.00. New Para 3's maxamet run must be trickling out.

I see they jumped the price from 170.00 to 191.75 per Spyderco's price increase. Still showing OOS on the site so they must be contacting people who had B/O. Props to them for honoring the old price on my 14 month old order.

And yes they also are charging state tax now.

PayPal sends me a 1099 if my Paypal G&S exceeds $600. I live in a very rural state that borders a tax free state (and everybody shops there) so my state is all about getting that money if/when they can.

eBay collecting sales tax on private party sales is whack. The IRS has a “garage sale” clause which states that you DO NOT pay income tax on stuff you sell as long as you did not purchase it with the intent to sell it for a profit and I think most or all of the states follow that. I don’t think those things should be eligible for sales tax either. Someone needs to look into that!

I see ebay is having some 4th of July deals on a few Spydercos. Slim pickings but it's something at least.

Hopefully this link works:

It sounds like eBay may have some coupons and/or deals going on July 15-16 to coincide with Amazon Prime Day. Hopefully a 20% coupon is in our future!

Not what we are all waiting for, but you probably have a 10% off Ebay coupon code if you are a Slickdeals member.
