how many of you fellow spydie nuts have had one of the older models of the endura or even the cricket or Walker and had the clip snap off? well, awhile back I bought a pair of Enduras w/ the FRN clip and after a week, I got one cought in my seat belt while getting out of my car. snap! well, that sucks....well, for awhile there I had a really BIG pocket folder, but that's repaired now, but the memory is still there. has this ever happened to you?

I'm starting to move away from clipped knives. I'm forever
catching the clip on something or scratching something
valueable. It's gotten really expensive a time or two.

Nothing says you HAVE to use the clip at all times. A Delica dropped down into the pocket makes a pretty dandy pocketknife. And, when you think you'll definitely need one-handed access or when you're not near the leather sofa or brand new car, you can clip it to a pocket.

Dude ~ I have some of the older Spydies which came with plastic clips.. Hardly any bad experiences with them cos the clips are pretty strong!

Ya' know, I've often wondered why knife makers have never used a product
called "Kevlar". I can tell you from my own experiance Kevlar is really
unbreakable and bullet proof. Clips made from this plastic might be an
excellent practical replacement for the metal clips now used. It is nice to
have the knife handy at pocket top but I'm getting REAL tired of some of
damage metal clips cause. It's the clip design mostly. That kick out at the
end of the clip is what tears thisgs up. A plastic clip doesn't need the kick
out to work.

I purchased a FRN Caylpyo Jr. and found that I like it better without the clip, carried like the old pocket knives we used to use. I kept the clip safe just in case I decide I wanted it later. I find that shorter knives don't stay in the pocket as well when using the clip which makes me worry about loss.

I broke the clip off my first a delica maybe a week after I got it. I just took my dremel and smothed it out. It still works it's way into the EDC rotation now and then.

Because work is extremly sensitive to anything knife related (there was a major witch hunt when records showed that an employee had logged onto a knife related web site. Can't imagine who that was ), I carry my Cricket as a pocket knife, i.e. dropped into the bottom of the pocket.
I really don't like doing it though. Even though I'm generally office bound these days it's surprissing the crud that builds up in a pocket. I'm forever having to clean it. It's the closest I get to abusing a knife.
Walk softly, carry a big stick.

I broke the FRN clip off my first Spydie, a Delica...sent it off and recieved a brand new one in its place...Carried the knife for several years after that and never had a problem with breakage again. Only problem I noticed was that after time the clip seemed to "stretch out" if you will away from the handle and was never quite that secure again.

Wow, this is an older thread, it scared me to see my own post. "Who's been posting as me?"
I'll add "I scratched my mothers towncar, which is now my towncar, twice."

I have broken the frn clips on 2 enduras. The first time I was leaning across the seat of my P/U and pinched the clip on the seatbelt receiver, broke the clip of nice as you please. I took it back to where I purchased it and it was immediately replaced with a new one. I broke the clip on the new one quite a while later while searching a vehicle. I sent the knife back to and it came back with a nice new black 3 screw clip. It stays in the pocket much better now.
