I just got back from one of the greatest times of my life. I was in "Knife Heaven" for three straight days. This was my first time at the OKCA Eugene Knife Show, and what a show it was. I found and received some true treasures there but by far the best part of the whole thing was getting to meet Sal, Gail and Eric Glesser. They truly are wonderful folks and a real blast to be around. My wife and I and some friends, including Spyderwa (Dave Jung), had the honor of joining them for dinner on Saturday night. We had a great time to say the least, and the memories are going to stick with me for a lifetime!

First off, I'd like to share some photo's of the knife I was able to find for edrose. He had said in an earlier thread that his "Holy Grail" for Spyders was the OKCA Club Knife for 1998, which was the C16 PS Wayne Goddard with the inlaid beaver by SFSW. The wood used for the inlay is different varieties found in Oregon, and from what I was told by the seller, Santa Fe Stoneworks got the wood from Oregon to do this inlay on the 60 pieces they made. It is quite an impressive piece, and I can see why edrose chose this as his "Holy Grail".

Somebody was looking in on the forum when we were discussing the rarity of this pin, and the likelihood of me finding one. I think it was the Spyder-Pin Fairy. I think his name rhymes with Pal. :D :D







This was a limited pin done in Sterling Silver. I can't remember the gentleman's name that made these though.

Sounds like you had a great time Felly. I wish that I could have also been there!!

I also got a chance to meet Ed Schempp, and look at some of his incredible work with the Damascus tiles and a few of his knives. What a great guy!

I never thought in a million years I'd find this pair at the show, but low and behold they showed up. I guess the pic's of the boxes they came in will shed some light on whether they are really Spyderco's or not. Really doesn't matter too much to me either way, they are simply stunning pieces IMO.

I did have a great time, and I was also able to help out some friends with their table. They really could have used at least three tables though with all the stuff they brought. Maybe next year! :)

If u remember the Dukes of Hazzard series....before every commercial, was it ?wayland jennings? who says...."Ya'll come back now u hear?".....is how i remember to pronounce "Layall" properly... :) :confused: :D

A huge token of appreciation from Sal for the safe return of the Bifold. I was lucky enough to hand the Bifold to him in person, which meant a lot to me!
