Spyderco Mule Team Details:

We would like to get a count on how many of our Steel Junkies would like to participate in the Mule Team. For those of you, who are not aware of this project, please see this thread… http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showt ... p?t=445613

Quantity:
We will produce 3-4 variations per year, each of course being different steel.

Pricing:
Pricing will be a Net Price only; there will be no additional discounts for Dealers/Distributors. This program is to introduce different steels to our ELUs at an affordable price.

Each variation will be priced accordingly with the only variable effecting price being the steel. The price will be announced prior to the release of the upcoming model.

Commitment:
We would like to know the depth of your interest. Would you like to sign up for the whole series or sign up for each model as they are announced? Keep in mind that signing up for models individually would create the possibility that a steel could be dropped if there was not enough participation.

Purchasing:
All purchases will be handled through Spyderco Factory Outlet (SFO). This will insure that we are able to offer the lowest price possible for each model.

Shipping Fees:
  • Domesticorders will ship free of charge(as per our standard shipping from SFO)
  • Internationalorders will be charged $25.00 for shipping.
Collectors:
Collectors will have an opportunity to enroll under the same provisions (e.g. Net Price, Purchased from SFO, Appropriate Shipping fees, etc.).

Sign-up:
We will announce the method for signing up soon. Our goal is to allow you to sign up and provide your payment information through our site in a secure format.

Now:
What we need now is to find out how many of you are actually interested in signing up. If you are interested, please email the following to MuleTeam@spyderco.com.
  • Name & Screen Name
  • Contact Information (Address/Phone/Email)
  • Commitment (Series sign-up or Individual)
Do not include any payment information; we will let you know when to submit that and how.

IF they were folders I would be intrested, however, fixed blades do not see much use in my world....

IF this tuns into a folder test, then I would be willing to give em a whirl....

Thanks.....

A bunch of Swickish type fixed blades in different steels? I'm in. :D

Looks like I might be the only one though, more people use folders. That'd be too expensive to make though.

ballpark pricing?

I'm interested, probably for individual sign-up instead of the series. Can you give some guidance on likely pricing? Are we talking $25-$50 each? Less? More?

Thanks,
Ron

Can you give some ballpark of what Net Price only is? Is that $20, or $60?

Maybe you could give a ballpark price for the first one or two mule models?

I'm just as interested now as I was when I read the BF thread. I'd love to commit to the series, but I can't say that I'll always have the money, so individual it is.

Yes, if we can have a ball park price per piece, I would consider being in...

Ball park on price for me too is determining factor...also can we pick up at SFO?

Testing individual runs would have more appeal for me than the Whole series

I love basic fixed blades (especially if someone will be providing sheaths) but I couldn't commit to buying all, so one-at-a-time for me.

Ditto for me. If it were somehow possible to put together some sort of very inexpensive folder design (doesn't even need to lock), I'd be much more enthusiastic about the project. I just personally wouldn't be able to put a bunch of fixed blades to good use. However, depending upon the average pricing, I'd probably be in for some individual models. Any chance these could be pre-drilled for cord wrapping or easier mounting of scales?

I'm interested in individual as well. However what is a ballpark on net price? Is there a picture of the mule?

Ahhh pic is post #216 of the linked thread.

Looks like a fixed blade Lil Temp with a skeleton handle.

Well, I'll need to know the price before I can commit, but email sent.

Umm... sorry to tell you this Scott, but it looks more like a Lil' Temp FB more than a Swick :( .

I can see why they did it, but I found it a pity as well, for the record.

I don't want to put myself down for something I won't be able to afford, but if it should be about $80 (or less!) per knife I would be interested... I'd probably want to sign up per model as I am a student and may not be able to buy them *all,* but I'd try to. Can we see a concept of what the mules might look like?

Dear Friends,

This is a Golden (HA!) opportunity to try out new steels. Since I finally have steady employment again, you may count me in.

+2

I would be be very interested if they were available as folder (or folder blades for us to complete) - but my use of / interest in fixed blades is quite limited.
