the month is ending... how was it for spydies?

#1

Post by clovisc »

personally, i've had one of the most ridiculous months ever in terms of quantity of spydies i've purchased...might not seem like a lot to some of you collectors, although to me, it's substantial. what about you guys?

my haul:

dodo, SE blue
R2, PE
big calypso, PE
goddard, CE burgundy
executive, SE

now i'm eyeing the volpe, as well as the quince kopa!

can't recall another month i bought more than three spydies. i guess these recent acquisitions reflect the fact that i'm all moved and settled into a new home where i feel comfortable. my stipend is hardly a paycheck, but rent and life in this part of the country is pretty inexpensive...

so -- WHAT HAS YOUR SPYDER-MONTH BEEN LIKE?

Scored a Mas Ayoob PE and a ZDP Endura. I thought I had picked up a back-up C44 Dyad until I opened the package   Took a bunch of pictures, contacted the seller and sent that puppy back. It was described as excellent condition, but it was beat up bad. Still waiting on a refund on that one. Sorry about the rant :o

I guess my wallet has recovered from the cancer surgery, since I'm looking at Spydies again :D

this month I bought a Civi and I have a blue Yojimbo on the way. I was surprised the Civi came w/a case, don't know if they all do or not?? :spyder:  :)

now if I could only find a PE Gunting somewhere that isn't ultra-expensive...

There is an ambulance chaser down here that runs adds all the time. He is built like the Govenator. He runs cheesy adds about,"Calling the Heavy Hitter" when they have been in an accident.

Felly you are indeed the Heavy Hitter. ]MY[/I] Forester box was undamaged, although it did have the ubiquitous Italian magic knife factory dust. ;)

A Caly 3 and another ZDP D4 (wife got the first one). Looking to adopt a Paramili next month when I get back to Ruff's Saddle Shop in central FL. The Caly 3 was on it's way to becoming an EDC until I read where someone described it as a "gentleman's knife". I'm prolly gonna put it back in it's box and go back to my D4 / mini-Manix EDCs. I'll stand fer being called a lot of things (most of 'em true), but "gentleman" ain't one of 'em!

BTW, if you find yourself in central Florida and you want to ogle a wall full of Spydies, Ruff's Saddle Shop outside Umatilla in Lake County is the place to go. They don't have an Internet presence and they are a real saddle shop (handmade on the premises to fit your as... um... specially made for your own individual shape), but they are also a well stocked Spyderco dealer (as well as other brands). And great prices as well.
Regards,
Dale

Only one Spydie for me this month, and that came as a total surprise, I had traded a Case XX Elephant Toenail for another Case and had some cash left over...stopped by the SFO and picked up their last Black Handled Yojimbo.

Only 4 new knives for me:

2 x Caly 3 CF zdp189 PE; and
2 x Harpy CF vg10 PE.

I gave a CF Harpy as a late Christmas present to a friend and am carrying one of the CF Caly 3s, very nice knife and will stay in the pocket a while.

D'Allara

Post by arnon »

I got only one, but one that I find very special and unique, the D'Allara rescue  . I must say, I am impressed. From the moment I picked up the UPS little package from the floor next to my door I was thinking "that kind of heavy" I opened it and this knife is impressive. It is big and bulky, strange looking, unique and shaaarp . This knife is a REAL tool, and I love it. It's pure 100% functionality, not the typical front pocket EDC, but a RESCUE TOOL made in the memory of "New York City Police Officer John D’Allara entered but never exited World Trade Center Building One on September 11, 2001." And I am honored to have this one....
Be well all Arnon :spyder: :)

I did not buy any knives for two month. The last one was ZDP Caly Jr. in January. I was depressed. :( :(
I got even more depressed when at the last seconds of bidding on Turquoise Kopa my computer froze.
Guess what? Month is not over yet. I just bought black PE Dodo and I am very happy camper again. :D :D
Now I need to get these Kopas.
