Black Tie Event Spyderco

#1

Post by ozspyder »

Hey guys,

Just thought I'd share my experiences with you. Last night we had to attend a black tie event (a Century 21 Annual Awards ceremony/ clebration). So the first thing that popped into my head, naturally, was have I got a paracord bracelet that is black and white !!!

The next logical thought was.... what should I carry with me, just in case THSTF. I have a collection of different manufacturers knives.... but I decided to grab my Chinook II and a Native III. :spyder:

I thought I may have a problem as the event was at Star City Casino here in Sydney and the security is tighter than at the airport  .... I had no issues. Chinook II in RF pocket, Native III in IWB.

Oh, also, a last minute thing was one of my daughters snapped off my S/S cufflinks  as I was getting dressed and trying to learn how to tie a proper silk bowtie (tip: the clipon ones are much much easier). So I had to quickly fashion 2 black matching cufflinks out of 550 paracord. Needless to say and as you can see from the picture, the cufflinks worked a treat and cost me about 20cents and 5 minutes of time. Hopped in the car with my suitably hotted up wife and drove through the the Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras to our function !

top night, and didn't get frisked by security :) .....hmmm, maybe next black tie event I'll crack open my Kopa's, they are much more socially acceptable :) Black Micarta or Evrina with black tie

Darn, that's pretty good, considering it's a black tie event. Glad security didn't pick the knives up though!

Thats a good lookin paracord bracelet! How do you hook it so it stays tight or is it loose around your wrist? I attempted to make one but realized i was not very handy and was just creating a noose for my hand :( . THX

It is a cobra stitch (i think( bracelet with a loop at one end and alternating colours all the way down. knot at the other end hooking into loop holds itself pretty much all the time if the bracelet is not too loose on your wrist.

I have a few different colour combos for different 'outfits' or occasions.

Nice setup there. :)

Black and white paracord...I'm going to have to look into that.

nice pic Datan....
at work i'm around office folk/patients so to not freak anyone out I opt for lighter pocket knifes that i can carry "loose in pocket"......like my Delica4 "clipless" , or my "S" or AlmiteWalker or UKPK.....
when OFF or out and about in Suburbia....I'll carry the bigger clipits in pocket from Native3 on up to an Endura/Military sized knife in my jeans....
