I got myself with the hole on one of my Pacific Salts. Barely even a cut, didn't even draw blood. The cut wasn't on my thumb from opening, I was spinning the knife around my index finger. I used some emery cloth to even out the hole. A couple other forum members have mentioned this, and I think Sal even chimed in at one point. Not chamfering the hole provides the best "grip" while opening the knife.

I got a Caly 3 PE from my sister. This is one smooth operator. By far the smoothest out of the box Seki I own. Love it. Don't know if it can replace my Lil' Temp as all around favorite though.

As for cutting the thumb on the SpydieHole, I have about 15 Spydercos and I have never had a problem with the hole being sharp. As others have said you should be able to rememdy that issue with some emery cloth or light filing. Good luck.

Blue Lum Chinese Folder!!! :D My wife has the uncanny ability to track down the spydies I always somewhat regretted not getting (last year's gift was a forum Military). At the time, tuition and books sometimes came before spydies.

Not Spydercos, but Katie (padawansgirl) gave me three Opinels. I was really happy to receive them because I've wanted an Opinel for a while now. I got a No. 4, a No. 6 with locking collar, and a standard No. 6. She even made sure to pick the carbon steel versions, because she knows I wouldn't want the stainless ones. :)

Very nice Padawan, though inexpensive, those are realy good knives.
I allways thought that all Opinels had the collar from size 6 and up.
So thanks for showing, good to learn a bit.
I also choose the carbon ones but it must be said that the stainless are very good too.
I find no difference in cutting performance.
