The Allusive Native

#1

Post by Bluntrauma »

Hello all. New here. I have been reading posts for awhile but wanted to jump in with an inquiry. After much thought, I have decided I want a Spyderco that I can't find. I have only seen one but they want 100.00 for it. Does anyone know where one one find this beauty? :D

Hello Bluntrauma, and welcome to the forum! :)

Wow, I didn't know they made in PE either. Maybe Sal or Kristi will chime in a bit to help you out.

I sure wish they'd make the new VG-10 model in PE...

GIN-1 Native

Post by JD Spydo »

Welcome :) You're among friends. Is that Native you got in the picture made with GIN-1 blade steel. Because most of those are made with AUS-10.

I think I do remember that the first ones of the stainless handled Native were made with GIN-1. Now neither one are bad steel. But if you can get a plain edged, stainless handled, Native with GIN-1 blade steel that would be a collector's dream. Welcome to Spyderville

ok, let's recap a little here:

- you've found a pretty rare SS PE Native
- you want it real bad
- you think it's a beauty
- the one place that has one wants a 100 for it

dude, buy it now from the one source or regret it forever!!!!!!! what's $100 to a Spyderholic?! nothing!! :D :D

seriously though, buy that one.

I hate to be dictionary guy but I think you meant "Elusive". "Allusive" would mean that this Native is indirectly referencing something else... which kinda makes no sense.

Maybe he meant he really wants the SE Native...and the PE kinda alludes to it. :D ;) :)

thanks dedguy -- you beat me to it. at first i thought this thread was about how the native reminded you of other knives, or something like that. :)

that's a beauty though. haven't seen too many SS natives. for $100, i would grab it.

IIRC Sal said that there were somewhere around 600 PE SS natives made.
As is right now 100.00 for one NIB isn't bad.
I have had a couple but both were AUS 10 steel.

ah, who cares about the steel, AUS-10 is perfectly fine

Bluntrauma, go get it while it's still available. you'll regret otherwise

even I like that knife and i don't care at all for the Native (and that means something because i am very picky and close-minded ;) ......)

Well thanks for the welcome and the grammar lesson :D

So, you think 100 bucks isn't too much for the knife. Guess I was figuring they would run a few bucks higher than the FRN. ****, a G-10 would be sweet. I have been collecting knives for a little bit. Mostly slip joints. I just bought my first Spyderco yesterday. Grabbed a SS Jester for 30 off of Ebay.

I'm a lefty so I guess you know that I am somewhat limited in what Spyder I can get. The Native is AUS-10 too. It sure is pretty. I can feel an obsession coming on that just might tax my wallet. Once again, thanks for the welcome!

Unaware they made a "Plain" SS Native also........

Image

Alll I have is the C41E..... ;)

Ordered 2 of the SS C41 GHS's - one in PE and one in SE. Gave the SE to one of our Forumites and unwittingly kept the more rare of the two. :o

Seems most of java's other Natives are engraved as well.......
