I've been seeing a lot of testaments to the strength and quality of the Delica/Endura models. I know my D4 is a great knife allaround.

I completly understand not wanting to sharpen it, since it's no long in use. Something about a well used tool. I have tools that my dad bought at flea markets in the 60's. Some of them are so worn (but still good) that the size and brand has been worn off. I think he even has some vice grips that still say "patent pending" on them.

Sharpen that Endura...

#5

Post by Karen »

Well I would sharpen her. :D Any self respecting Endura wants to be sharp, it's their nature. :) I wouldn't think there would be much collector value, especially as worn as she is. So I say, sharpen her up and use her once in a while.

By the way, did you name her? :D

That's an aweomse story. If I were the guy I would also not sharpen it. Keep it just the way it is. ;)

Keep thing sharp!

My first Spyderco was a Mariner - it was a good working knife (and you could even pound in at odd mail sticking up).

Great story. I can see the aspect of not ever sharpening it again due to sentimental reasons, and folowing Sal's suggestion. OTOH, I personally always feel as if I am being neglectful if one of my knives isn't capable of popping hairs off of my arm (that reminds me of a certain Yo in need of work :o once I finish a project I'm working on for someone). Either way, it was a great read.

Thanks for pointing that out to us Sal.

I can relate to not wanting to sharpen a knife like that...
My first Spyderco knife was D4. Didnt treat her so well and nowadays she doesnt see much carry time, but despite having other Spydie faves, I dont think I'll ever give her away... unless it was to my son or daughter.

And a few new pairs of pants. At the number of deployments of the knife he used to do, I guess his pocket would turn into rags in no time ;)

Hi Sal. Interesting, but not surprising (at least for us) ;) But it's always nice to share positive experiences one had with Spyderco :)

Cool story!

I vote to sharpen it yourself. Just because it's worn dosen't mean its worn out!

You're right about that. But I find it "unfortunate?" that many of the posts here are duplicated, verbatum there. (or visa-versa?). I hang out on a couple other forums (bourbon & coffee) and people there are often SEVERLY chastized for double posting like that as most of the "serious" poeple visit all of the related forums. Doesn't seem to be the case here. Different cultures, I suppose. Anyway, once I've read a thread on one forum (usually here) I rarely read it on the other forum. I know there may be a couple unique responses but, generally the threads run almost parallel.

Ken

(EDIT - PS - It IS a great story, Sal, and thanks for linking to it!)
