In case North Korea attacks...
In case of attack, have your blades ready! Lets see a picture thread!!!
Also, after seeing Cast Away on TV, I am convinced a Spyderco would have made his life better on the island!
With the exception of the older Civilians, this is what is currently chillin' in my SpyderPak SP2...I feel all of these knives can be 'tactical'...well okay, I added in the ZDP because and a few others. Now all I need to do is dig out the other Spyders from my closet...some other time! And horray CPM-S30V!!!

Yes were is your bottle of KI?dialex wrote:Nice assortment: Civies, Terzuolas, ATR's... do I see a Troodon there on the left?
However, I'm afraid a knife won't be of much use against a nuke
Consumer packaging
Take potassium iodide (KI) only when public officials tell you. In a nuclear radiation emergency, radioactive iodine could be released into the air. KI protects only the thyroid gland from uptake of radioactive iodine. Therefore, KI should be used along with other emergency measures that will be recommended to you by public officials.
If you are told to take this medicine, take it one time every 24 hours. Do not take it more often. More KI will not help you. Too much KI may increase the chances of side effects. Do not take this medicine if you know you are allergic to iodine
Follow the mushin, but pay it no heed.
Gosh, thanks, Doc. What a generous offer. No need to wait for the wackos to attach. We'd all be happy to have you arm us now, right guys? :)Dr. Snubnose wrote:In case of attack...I'm not posting pics...cause I don't want the North Koreans to know what I have in store for them...Lets just say I think I can arm every member of this forum with at least one knife....Doc :p

I would take AK47, I used it 34 years ago last time.

Couldn't we just trow food at them?

No! No! That would only lead to mass defections, then we'd be stuck with them. :DSeanH wrote:Couldn't we just trow food at them?
Seriously, I think they're far more likely to embroil us in a war by attacking their kinsmen to the south than by attacking us directly. On the other hand, any excuse to pack an extra Spydie or three is a good one. :D

Following are some random and admittedly half baked thoughts about what has been somewhat jokingly referred to as the North Korean threat.
I think it’s difficult to be sanguine about any armed conflict that reaches our shores.
The modernity / infrastructure so applauded here in the states makes the majority of us much more vulnerable to attack than those who live under the primitive conditions endured by the populations of some of our potential adversaries. IMHO, interruptions to the ‘sophisticated’ infrastructure which Americans have become accustomed to would likely bring this country to it’s knees. The only consolation might be that, as the ‘standard of living’ worldwide rises the populaces of more nations will become as dependent as we have become. E.G.
- Many homes in postwar Germany were the equivalent of cold water flats; now they’re by-and-large centrally heated (no more steel ash cans).
- Relatively few people in the states can get their water from a dug well, spring, or have access to a manually operated pump.
- My understanding of the evacuation routes which have those comforting ‘Emergency Evacuation Route’ signages is that the use of these routes will be restricted to authorized vehicles (critical personnel = no place to run, no place to hide, for the average Joe)
A knife made of good steel might help, if it’s not confiscated by the agents of homeland security.

Oh that dates you a bit...in my day we gave up pretending we could do anything about hiding from nukes and acid washed our jeans instead. We were so cool. :p :rolleyes:ken wrote:I was taught in school to get under your desk, put your head between your legs and kiss your ... goodby! Glad I have a fallout chamber! Not so half-baked if you ask me...makes a lot of sense, as most people are busy thinking (at least where I live) what color lipstick will I wear with these clothes and purse and should I shave my head bald and look cool when I go to the club, are we really ready for anything serious....I think not....sadly...Docjerseybounce_42 wrote:Following are some random and admittedly half baked thoughts about what has been somewhat jokingly referred to as the North Korean threat.

Where is JD when I need him?Puyallupknifegu wrote:I agree, Doc...sadly...remember the movie "Red Dawn" from the 80's?
Yikes!
All we can do is pray and buy more spydies...and maybe some guns!! Doc, I love your S&W...hadn't seen it before today. :D
Tim
You can't eat or drink Spydies. Have a couple quality backups. Any more knives should be Byrds to use as trade stock for items you forgot to hoard.
Weapons are easy, food/water, shelter, and escape routes are the hard part.
