What's in a name ?
A lot of people on this forum have nicknames (me included), I just wondered how you came by them.
To set the ball rolling.
I've been called Yogi for as long as I can remember, at least since the age of 6 (still don't know why ). When I was at college in the early 80's I became interested in computer games. At that time they would only except 3 letters for a high score, so Yogi got shortened to Yog. Been called it ever since.

About 13 years ago, when I was finishing high school, I had a very close knit group of friends (about 10 in total), we were the school's outsiders, trouble-makers, party animals, and loved to burn our philosopher's stones until 4-5 a.m. every weekend, causing much worry for our parents, LOL! During one of those reunions we all came up with our "secret-code" names to be used during reunions. Mine was Kahz, it sounded like a woman warrior name.
I've been called like that by my closest friends ever since, even though it's not a secret name anymore. I like how it sounds and it's a good nick. My real name is Marcela.

This one night I was trying to pick a username for a forum or something, I can't exactly remember what.
But anyways, every name I tried was taken by someone else. I sat thinking and happened to look down at my asthma inhaler which was on the desk. It was a Qvar 50 Aerosol so I thought, theres no way in the world anyone could be called that, so thats where mine came from.

I thought of mine because it is my fav pistol. The Browning Hi-power. I really liked the pistol and I wanted something that made sense for a screen name so I thought of FN (Fabrique Nationale) then HP (Hi-power) then 35 because it was originally called the GP-35 in Belgium when it came out. That is the story! I just wish I owned one!

Folks,
My handle is comprised of my first name combined with that of my favorite sidearm; the world famous "slabsides" or "old ugly"...the model 1911 pattern autoloading pistol. Mine's a single-stack, chambered in .45 Auto.
I first came up with this handle a couple years ago, while frequenting the shooters.com bulletin boards.
Cheers, Jeff/1911.

about 5-6 yrs back(when the net was just going public up here)... I started playing net games.
I went by many names in my time, but only a few repeated: Vampyrewolf, Phoenix, RedBaron.
I use Phoenix as my name in games like quake when I can set my spawn to infinate(and keep coming back 100s of times).
RedBaron was chosen after a higscore of 83 kills in 17hrs (one sitting) in my military flightsim. Most of the kills were with the nosegun on the f-14. Rearmed 6 times, only used 18(/24) missiles.
VampyreWolf... I tend to hide in the shadows in net games and strike at prey as they come around corners. I took the vampyre part for that, and I've always had a thing for wolves(just looks around and sees 6 wolf pics in the room). Vampire is spelled different to allow use, my spelling is the ancient one(the english term for nosfaratu).
We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare...

I spent a summer working with a missions group in Zaire. I was walking through a village one day and a mother was holding her child. She pointed at me and said "mundele". After that I noticed that lots of people would call me "mundele". I assume that it is the equivalent of "gringo". I hope it isnt derrogatory...
I like the sound of it and it's different, so I use it as a nickname for online stuff quite a bit. My real nickname from High School is "Matty"
