Tiwain Made

#1

Post by J Smith »

I have just seen a gerber ridge skeaton it has aus6 steel.

It seems to be very well made but I don't like the thought of buying a name brand knife with tiwain stamped on it even for 17.96.

For years any thing I have seen that was made in tiwain has been flea mrk. junk.Is this still the case or has tiwain started makeing higher end items?

Also the blade is sharpened on one side only why is this.

I have no reason not to buy one.
I own a Gerber AR 3.00, and had beencarrying it daily till I got a Spyderco Delica. They are great knives, and my AR 3.00 had Tiwain stamped on it.
It's not where it's made, its how well, and most of my knives that are made there are high quality.
Spyderco makes some of their knives in Seki, Japan...who cares?

japan made items are know some of the best in the world but not long ago[50s and 60s] they were concidered to be junk.If tiwian is know making good, quality products I will have no problem buying them.
how about that blade sharp on one side only wouldn't that be really hard to sharpen?

Not really, I never had a problem.
Just easier if you have a 204.
Gerber will, like spyderco, sharpen the blade for free, so if you want it super sharp...you could always send it back (portland is their main headquarters).
Actually, I the pocket clip fall off my AR 3.00, and sent it back. Boy was I suprised to find a brand new one, along with my old one!

You oughta go on over to Smoky Mountain Knife Works. Last time I was there they didn't have a huge collection of spydies, but it was worth the drive (I was in Knoxville anyway)

The gerber wasn't in the cards for me.
I went to the outfitter store{Alpine Inc}today. They had a prety good selection for a small store I bought a delica ser.old model.
They were asking 59.95 only had 45.00 on me so he let me have it for 45.00 tax incuded.
They also had a Wyane Godard, think I'll try to get it in a few weeks.
