Hello all,

I am a recent convert from Benchmade to Spyderco. I have collected both of these brands for a while now and I have recently gotten fed up with the lag time of getting knives from BM (I had an order out for an month and a half, and was told that it would be another 2-3 months before my knives came in). Furthermore, I have been so impressed when I come into the Spyderco factory store at the customer service from Doug, Kristen, and Cody. I was also able to spend some time with Gail and hear her views on the company and life in general. Due to the design of the knives (ergos, blade steel, and looks) I have decided to give my loyalty to Spyderco.

Heres a little about me, I am 24 and a firefighter with Denver, CO. I got married in Feb of this year and just bought a house with my new wife.

I have been reading a lot in this forum and really like the way the members interact with eachother. This seams like a very friendly place with lots of information and views.

I canceled the order with BM and applied those funds to a shopping spree at the factory store. I bought 10 knives total, and man am I happy! Anyways, just wanted to say hello to everyone and say that I'm excited to be here. :spyder:

DFD04,

Great taste in knives and welcome to the forum. You're spot on regarding the SFO and the great folks there. I try to get up to Golden at least once a week but I've had to slow down some as it does take a bite out of the wallet. Are you based out of the firestation on Lawrence & 19th?

She likes them but is not as into them as I am. She carries a BM 555 mini Grip. She gets a wierd feeling holding the Civi. Trying to get her to get a ZDP Delica.

This is the place where good folks pleasantly interact with all of their Spyderco questions, and very little hostility, but lots of honesty. Always glad to have a new member climb aboard!

You have me wondering- if you got 10 great knives from Spyderco for around the same amount as what you had on order from the "other" knife company, was the quantity of knives about the same? Just wondering on the value vs. dollar thing. BM's aren't known for being "cheap", with the exception of their Red Class being somewhat more affordable.

Congrats on your personal achievents as well! Be safe!

Greetings. I'm sure after talking with some of the people on this forum, you'll end up with 10 more knives.

Looks like I'm a little late to catch the welcome wagon, but welcome to the Spyderco forums! It sounds like you're already off to an awesome start (as you have more knives than I do! :D ) with a very well rounded collection. I trust you'll find the Tasman Salt particularly useful. By the way, does your CF Military have S30V or BG-42? Just curious. Welcome again!
