Spyderco 905 Orange Stone?

#1

Post by smcfalls13 »

I hadn't bought any Spydercos in a while, so I bought a Scorpius on an impulse to see if I like it or not, and whether it's a good enough knife to pimp.

Anyway, while I was shopping for the Scorpius, I came upon a 905 Orange Stone. I'd never heard of it, so I went ahead and ordered one(it was only $12, so it's not exactly going to hurt my wallet)

Anybody know what they are?

Hi, Scott!

That's so weird- I ordered a Cento4 and a Gen1 SF from NGK today, and I saw the same item and thought, "What the heck is that??" Once you get it, please let me know, as I am quite curious to find out! I wasn't as adventurous as you to order one without knowing first what it was! ;)

Take care, bud!

Will do. Should be here Tuesday. I'm one of those suckers that will pay $12 to figure out what the heck it is ;)

May be an India Stone which would be a great bench stone. Excellent stone. Enjoy. :D

I just looked on Spyderco's website and it's not there. I just talked to a dealer friend of mine and he got out his catalogs from 3 distributors and he can't find it.

IF it's a new Spyderco sharpening accessorie then it should be on the website shouldn't it?

Didn't Spyderco have an orange stone along time ago. An oil stone?? One they imported from Japan?? I think?? It gets hard to remember after awhile. Maybe it is something new.
Let us know.

Kristie tells me it is not a Spyderco product old or new and trust me with this lady I ain't arguing! she is just toooo sweet :p Hope that don't ruin her reputation.

It is nothing new from Spyderco, Sorry. It is something very old but there is some question as to it being from Spyderco, When 1st asked about it I assumed it was a stone from Spyderco that comes in a leather pouch but after looking at it today it's just a orange stone with no markings other than a old store price sticker we don't use anymore, it has been in the store for years. The sticker does have #905 on it and after thinking about it I believe it may suppossed to be #0905 which would be a Case knife product, I'm still looking into it and will let you know for sure.

Thanks Tom

For the price, it's not exactly going to hurt me if it's not a Spyderco, but I can't say I wasn't curious ;)

That would be it......... :) I Guess it somehow made it's way down 5-6 displays. Maybe it just "wanted" to be a Spyderco :)

Perhaps like a certain infamous ring, this stone was made to be the one stone to grind them all, and in the darkness sharpen them!
