Viele/Spyderco Ball-Bearing Lock.

#1

Post by Halfneck »

If you look on page 109 of of the Sept 2006 issue of BLADE there are some beautiful knives by Mr. Viele that utilize the Spyderco Ball-Bearing Lock.

I think Spyderco needs to make one.

P.S. if anyone knows how to link pictures or where to find one I would appreciate it.

You might want to check out this thread from a few weeks ago, where a Spyderco/Viele ball lock prototype is discussed.

Give it G-10 or Micarta scales, and I'll be in for one. Don't care for the ivory scales(if that's what they are)

There are two "Spyderco Round Hole, ball bearing lock" models that Howard Viele is making. The one shown above is a Liong design. There is also another design that Howard created. I believe I just saw a pic in one of the knife mags.

We are currently working on a production version of the Howard Viele design.

So are you making a version of the knife pictured above, or not?

I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.

Same here... I want it "tacticoooool! :D

Actually, I'm kidding. I like G10 because to me, it seems a lot more rugged than most handle material options. And yeah, I think it looks better than anything else I've seen. :)

I remember that post vaguely Deacon.

Was looking at my Blade magazine at lunch when I spotted those pics and fell in love. Came back from lunch and just felt the need to mention it :)

I'll just get STR to drill it

That's the other reason I would want G-10 or FRN, drilling ivory on a knife like just seems wrong. ;)
