I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.

My choice would be the Military.......I know it would be expensive, but I'd be all over it!

No offense, but why pay a premium for a hi-performance steel in a knife that see little or no use ( Civilian) ?? I know, for the heck of it, I know I know
As for a choice, I would say the big Calypso :D .
I've heard much more "bring it back" about this model than the Wayne Goddard that actually "won" the right to a reborn

More importantly, since we don't really understand the toughness, why ask for it on things like the Civilian, Military, Paramilitary, Adventura? Those seem like better candidates for BG-42. I'm with Joshua J., I'd be looking at under 3" not intended for heavy use, at least for now until we hear how the ZDP Delicas are holding up. Spin and Lava might be good candidates. Also the Swick Dodo. Don't confuse me with claims about there not being a Swick Dodo.psimonl wrote:No offense, but why pay a premium for a hi-performance steel in a knife that see little or no use ( Civilian) ?? I say the Civilian, because it's not a hard-use knife (or any kind of utility knife.) For SD, a ZDP Civilian would be wicked.
I agree that being as hard as it is, ZDP is probably not the best steel for a larger, or hard use utility knife.

ZDP isn't new. It's just new to us. Someone on a different thread in a different forum had a grading F to A+ for hardness and toughness in some Japanese steels ( including Gin 1, ATS 34 & ZDP189). ZDP 189 had the best grade in hardness but not the best grade in toughness. I don't recall it's exact grade. Basicly we do know it won't "come apart" or whatever in a few years. It's a very good steel. I'm hoping the talk about a sprint run of Enduras happens personally. Joe L
