Calypso Jr. Forum Knife

#1

Post by charlie »

OK Sal, the list is started. This topic is for the Calypso Jr. with VG-10, FRN handle with the Spyderco logo in pearl, plain edge and the only Choice is handle color. Any other variations or model Spyderco Knife's as a candidate please start another topic.

My color choice: Black

This is close to what I juggested in the first place. I was thinking a dark green and black inlay would be a little more interesting/unusual/rare.

I'm one of those getting pretty tired of black. On some knives it looks best, I guess, but I find myself liking almost any knife with some color to it.

I say go for the same bright red as the Snap-Its on AG Russell. I think it is hard to think of that color and weapon. Tool may be a reach, but that color -- to me -- suggests fun.

The Calypso Jr. has to be made in Caribbean blue!

Ok...

If we have to go with the Calypso Jr., then at least go for a color.

Maybe a bigger hole too, please? I love my Calypso Jr., but if it had a larger hole it would be that much nicer.

My choise from the Next Spyderco Forum Knife Thread,

So my choice in summary:
CALYPSO Jr., PLAIN Edge, Dark GREEN with White mother of pearl inlay.

If the choice goes to any other color, I'm still in, if the configuration is Calypso Jr. Plainedge.

I still think that this is the Next Generation of spyderco for EDC.

Hmmm, earlier in another thread I thought a Calypso Jr in Blue would be nice, but now I agree with a earlier suggestion here. A Calypso Jr. in dark blue or dark green would be great. A plain blade only, and nothing else. It would be a every day user and I dont want it to be too fancy that I wouldnt want to use it.

Was wondering where the Spydie would go on a Calypso Jr. This placement might be a problem for lefties, butt what isn't?

That looks pretty good, Chinook! I like the color of the handle, although any color would probably look cool.

Would Spyderco have to make a new mold for the inlayed handle though? If so, just a plain, colored handle might be a better bet. It would be more cost effective and have a better chance of actually getting made.

Yeah, I had thought of that too. I bet that a new mold would be too expensive....

Maybe a spydie bug logo could be engraved onto the blade (like the lum symbol is on the Lum Chinese)...

I am still pushing for a Delica. But if it is to be a Calypso Jr....

For a Calypso it has to be a splash of colors. Light purple base color with red/pink, blue and yellow splashes? Carnivale attitude!

Blimey, a bloke goes away skiing for a week and look what happens . I guess I've lost my "troublemaker tag" .

One of the original prototypes of the Calypso Jr. was in burgundy FRN and it looked fabulous. I've been lobbying for it ever since but had given up as sales of the knife didn't seem to warrant a special run. However it would be an excellent choice (IMNSHO) for a forum knife. I'm not sure if an inlay would be possible but some laser wtching on the blade would be nice. I don't have James' original photo (do you Chinook?) but here is one I cropped from another scan.

16 responses in 6 days will not make a forum knife happen! Maybe someone who wants a Delicia (or some other Spyderco model) as the forum knife should start a new post stating the model and that the only choice is the color.

Well, there are 2 threads going on a new bladeforums knife. Hopefully Sal will come up with a pic and we can get one rolling.

I did like the looks of the burgandy one that was a prototype.

Either way I will take 2.
