I was invited to join some friends on a camping trip this weekend and wondered what knife should I purchase? I know this might sound silly but I whould like what ever knife I get to really impress this outdoorsy guy I kind of like, as well. I do enjoy hiking and camping, but have never owned a knife and thought, I could "kill two birds with one stone", proverbally anyway.
Thanx LBS :-)
what knife would you recomend for camping?
If I where to recomend a good strudy camping knive I would look at www.striderknives.com
They make very nice full tang, one piece knives made of ATS-34 steel. I would back a Strider up with a folding Spyderco. Something with a thick tip like the Wegner, which I think also has ATS-34 steel. Just my 2 cents.

I have used my Endura for quite a few camping chores and it really does a great job. I would also recommend the Military, but it depends on what feels good in your hand. Both of these are a fair size, and it really depends on what you want to do with it.
For heavy chores, I use a Buck 119. If it's me, I decide on what I will need it for before I buy it. Not much help I know, but take him with you and showing you are interested would impress him a lot.
