Stare - Hows the Wayne Goddard?

I noticed in a previous post that you carry the Wayne Goddard lightweight. I recently bought 2 of them because they were reasonably priced. One to stash and one to use. What do you think of it? I have not seen any posts referring to it.

Hi Mike -- When I first got the Goddard Ltwt, I carried it a lot. I'd been carrying my little CRKT LUS in my left pocket, tho it's not really lefty friendly. Wanted something a bit larger, and wanted the ambidexterity. Was fortunate enough to get my Goddard from SMKW on their closeout price. (Sorta wish I'd bought 2 also.)

Sometime shortly after that, I bought a CRKT Apache and 3 more Spydies. Got the Wegner and the Calypso Jr Ltwt new, and bought a used Native here on the forum. So, that theoretically gave me 3 left-handed knives to use.

Dropped my previous primary carry for the Apache and Wegner. Decided didn't need something as large as the Goddard, so replaced it with the Native, which I love.

Occasionally try a smaller knife in my right pocket, then the Goddard comes out. Just forgot to replace it w/the Native when I put the Wegner back in on the right.

I really like the Goddard in a back-up role. I guess because of the thinness of the handle, I don't feel I can get quite as good a grip on it as I'd like for a self defense piece. But, that thinness and light weight makes it very easy to carry. I really like the blade shape. I know it is as strong as I need it to be, but it's lack of bulk makes me keep it in a secondary role.

How do you like yours?

I really have not used mine yet. I got them at closeout/discontinued price also so I just could not say no. It's too big for me to use as an EDC. People in my office would have a heart attack. I like the blade shape, and the handle seems sturdy for all its slimness. Maybe I will tote it hunting or hiking this fall.
You sure do pack alot of steel to work. Less Sheeple mentality out there?

you haven't seen my carry pile have you?

Wegner jr, in right/front
Delica, in left front
Cricket, IWB
ladybug on keys, left side pocket(combat pants)
Multi-tool on right hip

5 knives, all sub 3", 3 with serrations, 1 with a saw. Then the 5" bootknife, but we won't mention that...

We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare...

I carried one for awhile. It is a real working blade. The one thing I did not like was the clip mounting system. I caught the clip on a chair handle one day and it spun in its moulded recess, gouging out the square sides in the FRN. I did it again carrying something heavy one day. It resides in the greenhouse hanging on a nail by its Spydiehole.
I gave my numbered one to my nephew as a gift. I don't think he carries it much, superstitious maybe, its #013.
I hesitate to carry my blue Native because it has the same clip mounting system.

Yes I saw your massive carry pile in a previous post. You must work in a knife friendly environment. Kind of reminds me of when Mel Gibson turned in his weapons in the movie Thunderdome. Remember that scene?

Chinook

Thats too bad about the clip on your Goddard. Maybe they should have stamped steel washers shaped to fit the indent. It was a contest between the steel clip and the FRN.....the steel won.

Mike V.> when did that movie come out? I haven't seen it. Mel Gibson is a great actor for the action/shooter movies.

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985)
It had some good lines in it.

"Two man enter, one man leave!"
"One day, cock of the walk. Next, a feather duster."
"Do you know who I was? Nobody. Except on the day after, I was still alive. This nobody had a chance to be somebody."
"Pig sh*t. The lights, the motors, the vehicles, all run by a high-powered gas called methane. And methane cometh from pig sh*t."

Probably the best part was the ageless Tina Turner as Aunty Entity.

Chinook

Thanks for the movie info. VampyreWolf really must see it. Do pay close attention to the weapons turn in scene.

Hi Mike -- Guess I do carry a lot, but am retired. Only wear jeans and cut-off jeans. Gives me lots to play with, and I don't have to do anything to go anywhere except put on my fanny pack. (That has a Camillus EDC in it.)

Chinook- My Endura did much the same thing one day, now the clip has play in it, regardless of how many times I tighten the clip. Every time the clip moves, I tighten it, then it moves again.

Any ideas from Sal & co. as to how to solve this problem?

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.
