Lava!!!
Lava!!!
Aloha ALL,
Okay, it's 0445hrs. and I had some comp probs... I'd have posted this sooner but now I am beat, and **** was rather busy last night. Anyway...
Last night, I call my wife at about 2100hrs. from **** and *jokingly* say, "So, did UPS or Fed Ex stop by with the knife?" She says, "Wha? Oh yeah, your Spyderco Knife is here."
I dropped it, figuring she as joking too, so I ask the "normal things" like how everything is going at home, is our daughter behaving, etc...and she cuts me off and says, "For real kine you know, your Spyderco Knife is here." SO I was all like, "Wha? Are you serious?"
"Mrs. Daywalker" finally says, "The Lava is here."
I tell you guys, from 2100-2300hrs seemed like an eternity! (the last two hours of my shift) I was fortunate and blessed to come home from **** (on a Friday?!!) so I then sped home safely, watching for raven...hoping he don't pull me over for speeding. :p
Anyway, I don't know how to explain how I felt when I was opening the box from Golden. More so, I was opening it with Alex's Adventura...so the emotions were flowing big time, like they are right now.
Until I get proper clearance, I am only posting three pics. Sal said pics are okay, because the LAVA is in production stages, BUT, I do not know how *specific* I can get about the LAVA w/o ruining any marketing approach. I know you all can respect that...
Sorry for the bad pics, but it wasn't easy for me to stay still. :o Now, please excuse me all, I got a meeting with my "carpenter friend", I owe Him a great deal of praise right now.
For now also, allow me to publicly thank sal and the :spyder: crew for doing a KILLER job on the Lava, (They actually managed to pull of an industry first I believe with my Lava design...more on that later though...) to Damascus King Ed Schempp who, for reasons beyond my understanding "likes my designs" :p , C102 designer DiAlex for changing my freehand artwork into his magical renditions, my KnifeBrothers for your patience and great help in keeping me sane :o , and to all of you...my :spyder: Ohana. Mahalo much...
Oyasuminasai and God bless,
Chad

Looks great Chad! Think the shot with the Advetura will answer a lot of questions regarding size. Imagine the "when" is one of those questions that, even if you know, you'd want to clear with Golden before posting. Figure that, and the SKU# will be released in time for us to "pre-order" a few.
Savor the moment bro, you've earned it!

Hi Chad,
Glad it got there ok. I would guess that you can say anything you want once the model has been announced to our dealer base. Production is within the next 6 months, 3 - 4 more likely. But I will yield to the sales dept decisions. Kristi?
The blade steel is VG-10. I'm pretty sure Kelly set up the model in the computer so Kristi should have price info.
"basic stainless" is, in my opinion the best way to test a "pattern design". Function and ergos are easily determined without the "influence" of material.
If the "pattern design" is well received, then materials can be discussed. Material options are boundless.
We have produced two designs from forumites within a one year time period. It will be interesting to watch their "paths". Naturally we wish the best.
