New Kopa flavor: Apple Coral

Post by Senate »

I don't know for how long it's been out for sale but I think nobody mentionned it and our favorite retailer apparently forgot to put it on the "what's new" page.

Senate,
For sale ?!? I have been watching for this one. I almost had SFSW do an apple coral kopa for me. I'm very happy that this is not priced as high as the other 2 this year. I may have to get more than one :D . Now off to check out that website.

Looks very nice. After getting the Cocobolo Kopa, I really have a desire to get more!! My pocket book is not looking so good though. I am saving.

save your money for the tiger coral first, it's the best flavor so far...

Ryan, I posted these not so long ago and haven't had the time to take better ones, no sun these days around here :o
note that there are variations in the tiger coral colors, some stripes are orange like mine whereas others are darker, more brown-ish.
I ordered the apple coral and will post some comparaison pics.

Don't get me wrong, the Tiger Coral is beautiful. But I think perhaps the picture of the Apple Coral does not do it justice. The pieces I've seen (in jewelry) are extremely attractive. Granted, as with the Tiger Coral, and the Cocobolo for that matter, there can be a lot of color and pattern variance between specimens, but have a hunch once folks start posting shots of them, the Apple will become even more popular than it is already.

Senate, absolutely beautiful. I have been thinking about getting one for my dad so that I can do my part to pass on the addiction. I’ll probably wait for some side to side comparison pics but your photography is stunning thanks. Those pics are going to my hard drive.

Yes, the corals are beautiful, but are we not denuding the sea of coral by using this material ? Imagine a Spyderco with genuine African elephant ivory scales...and in a genuine leopard fur sheath ! This would create a **** of an uproar from the bunny-huggers ! Maybe this compassion for life does not extend to such lowly forms as coral.

I am playing Devil's Advocate here ! While I am not a bunny-hugger myself, I will not needlessly destroy life, except for flies, ants, mosquitos. I will leave hugging these to the Jains !

Most harvested coral is already dead or has already broken off the reef and has fallen to a location where it would soon be dead from lack of light. "Most" countries have strict regulations on what can be harvested so that the living reef is not impacted.

Senate; Thanks for the heads up that our favorite dealer has the new Kopa.
I too have been watching for a "whats new" indication. I ordered my Apple Coral yesterday. I really like the Kopa's and want 1 ea of every handle material that Spyderco makes available. :)
