When did this appear? Why doesn't it have a Spydiehole? What is the "buttonlock"? If it is the featured item on the Spyderco Factory stores homepage, is it an older model? Inquiring minds want to know...

Thanks for the heads-up. I've been looking out for this for a while but hadn't checked SFO recently. Sal first mentioned it some time ago on BladeForums and IIRC there was even some talk of it being the subject of a competition when it arrived.

The Solo name is owned by Spyderco and used for knives which don't have the hole. The previous designs have included "gentleman's folders" with micarta scales and stainless bolsters. The opening device is called a lobe which I assume is similar to a disc (I've never handled one). I think the "buttonlock" is a liner-lock which is released by a button in the handle. That is a great price for a knife with an AUS-10 blade, G10 scales and a nested liner, what a pity it's part-serrated <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>.

Thank you very much for filling me in. I appreciate that. While reading the description, it struck me as very good value as well. I share your feelings about the partly serrated blade.
