Spyderench

Postby North61 » Sun Jan 08, 2006 10:37 pm

O.K. I keep getting beat out on ebay on one of these great multi-tools.

Part of the reason is because Sal has said he wants to bring out a new improved version. This leads to hesitation in my bidding.

Any intelligence on the release of the new Spyderench? I can be patient and waited out the Trakker/Lynks, Ocelot thing..(worth the wait) on the other hand if the Spyderench isn't going to be reintroduced I ought to up my bids the old model.

Sal's mentioned it a few times, but I don't know if it's a definite thing, or something that's still being discussed.

Wish I knew more.

:( My lock wore out on mine. Everything else still works perfect. Carry a second spydie for the knife part anyways :) I got mine on Ebay a year or so ago for around $115.

Wow first post in awhile for me. :)

One, two punch

Postby JD Spydo » Mon Jan 09, 2006 6:26 am

In my pickup truck everyday I carry the Spyderench and my Victorinox Swiss Tool. I find myself using them quite a bit. They are truly my "one, two punch" tool-wise. Most of the time what one won't do the other will. I can't wait until a new model of the Spyderench will be released. :spyder:

Here's a thought...

Did the release of the R2 cause the prices of original Rs to drop? Did the release of the ZDP Caly Jr lower the price of VG-10 ones?

My point is, even if (and I'd rate that as a VERY big if) a new version of the 'Rench shows up a few months from now, the original ones are uncommon enough that you would probably be able to recoup all, or at least most, of your investment. You might even get lucky and make a couple bucks. Plus, you would have something you can use right now, whereas there is no guarantee an improved version will ever be released.

Yahoo!!!!

The going rate on Ebay seems to have crept up to 150.00 (US) and at that price I can wait for the new and improved model to ck out the differences.
I also hate bartering.

Thanks for the heads up Sal.... you have truly built an incredible company and
I have become a big fan.

Only complaint is that **** new Ocelot is creating an incipient hole in the pockets of my wool pants due to constant wear.

I have to pick myself up off the floor..... The best news this year! and it's only January.....

I would carry my 'Rench every day if I could, the only thing that stops me is that I could not replace mine very easily if I lost it or broke it.

Any pics or specs? Even just the type of steel for the blade is enough to begin with :D

It is getting closer. KnifeCenter just posted news about the SHOT shwo saying:

"The Shooting Hunting and Outdoor Trade show just ended with some great new products being announced. Spyderco will offer their Endura and Delica models with the Emerson WAVE opening device in the near future. Also available from them will be the return of the Spyderwrench."

Good news for many!

I have just received my 'Wrench!!
A bit of rust on the driver bits, but overall, seldom used!
It seems that apart from the factory edge, the blade has not been sharpened! :)
I will have the entire tool Ti Nitrided... :) Gold Spiders!!!
