Interesting thing about the millie

#1

Post by Old Ross »

If you sharpen a plain edge millie to hair cutting sharpness and hold a hair between your left index finger and thumb, take a swipe at the hair and hit your finger instead, the millie will take off a lage wedge of skin most of your nail and cut you to the bone. Who would think a 46 year old man would be so stupid? No picture cos I cant hold my camera.

Aww -- come on! Can't the doctor take the pic. :D

So, you got it finger-shaving sharp, huh? Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I had a minor accident with scissors which required a trip to the E.R. several years ago. I hope the medication works, and it heals up fast. Remember scars make good conversation pieces. :p

Old Ross, I am also 46 and it is pretty amazing some of the stupid things I have also done with my knives lately. Find the thread about me shaving my neck with my Lil' Temp :o . (http://spyderco.com/forums/showthread.p ... ight=ront). Not a bad cuts at all, but still stupid.
Hope you heal soon.

Ahhh, you know another one now! You should have seen my finger and knuckle after a run in with the Spyderfly. My fault, no question, thinking I knew what the **** I was doing after having it out of the box for 30 seconds. It came down over the top of my right index finger, gashed that to the bone, then hit my knuckle, cutting that down and taking a chip of bone with it. YEEHAW, what a mess. OK, not stupid enough? How about doing it all over again with the left hand, minus the bone fragments. NGK put 3 band aid dispensers in with that order thankfully.

ER = penicillin + new years eve/alcohol = disaster. I'll try not to go if I can keep the bleeding stopped.

When I got my para military, I was flipping it open and closing it. While it was open, I fumbled with it and it dropped out of my hand. Not wanting to let it hit the tile floor, I caught it. I caught it by the pointed tip right in my palm. Stupid move, but hey I didn't break off the tip on the floor and my hand healed.

Well, I hope you do get it stopped, and can save your NewYear's Eve plans. That E.R. trip that I mentioned happened because I couldn't stop the bleeding.

Well, one day while I was working on my garage door I needed a hammer to wack a piece of metal into place. The hammer was in the basement but I had this old dull hatchet handy. ;) On the third wack I got a "pling" as the hatchet was deflected - and as it reached about half its journey to my head it dawned on me that perhpas this was not a good idea and that pain was about to commence.

And they let me play with knives......

The wife sure got a good laugh and I only received a good wack on my forehead - no cut - just dent....

I guess I'm a stubborn old fart. I use butterfly bandaids for the bad ones (unless the wife finds out and forces me to the ER) and newgraham.com freebies for the not so bad. :D

Well Ross
I don't know anybody stupid enough to do such a thing with a Military.
However, I do know someone stupid enough to do it with a Native, and, not having learnt his lesson, to do the same again with a Dodo..............
That Dodo cut sure did bleed

All Knife Knuts learn the old saying "if you mess with the bull you get the horn". I have been horned many times. I was wiping water off the blade of my Mili and it cut through the paper towel and bit me a couple days ago.
