Hey Ruxton.
I guess you can tell by the blurb next to my name that I am down in Sunny Cornwall.

As for knives, I have my first spydie, the Ladybug, followed by PE Military, PE SpyderWrench, PE SS Delica, SS Harpy and a G-10 Civillian and PE Calypso Jnr on order.

****, these things are addictive

Hey yog,
i imagine there isn't too many ppl with spidies in the uk, especially civilians, they are just soo satisfying, put a dent in your wallet but its always worth it. i got a SS harpy, SSSpolice, a PE spydercard and of course my CFPE civilian , my next purchace will be a SE military. u got any idea about the legality of carrying them? i think its 3 1/2" but they brought out a new law where its illegal to carry nething a policeman considers an offensive weapon i think.

How about a new generation clip in the shape of a bottle opener. It could be under spring tention, pull out, then swivel up to lock in place. Sal, as a LEO I'd also like to see a glass breaker made into the bottom of models that are aimed at Emergency personnel, the Police model, Endura etc. RKBA!

Hi Ruxton.
It was quite satifying when ordering the Civilian to hear "Thats going to be a special order ... Oo, that IS a special order"

As for the legality of carry, yes it is very vague. I only every carry the Military when I'm working on a construction site, so no problems there. The Delica and now the Calypso Jnr I have no wories over, it helps that at work I usually wear a tie and glasses, am softly spoken, and I am always very polite to policemen. The Civilian I must admit is the only one I have as a collection object, it's definatly not going out the house, there is no way I could justify carrying that in public.

Of them all the Harpy is the only one that gives me pause for thought, especially as it is part of my daily carry rotation and does look quite mean.
If asked I would say that after 15 years of Martial Arts I should know what would make a good self defence blade. I would then point out the limitations of the Harpy, not very good for stabbing, hawkbill is likely to get caught on clothing, serrations are so big they are bound to snag in loose woolen garments. I would say that I choose this knife because it could not be confussed with a defence weapon, and then point them to the Spyderco site where they describe it as a rope cutting tool.
I would definately NOT mention that a sharpened pencil can be a lethal weapon, and that the Harpy would make an excellent defence blade
