I have seen various references to this knife, and usually spelled PIKAL. Yet, on the blade the word PAKAL is quite clear. Which name is correct, and what is a Pikal/Pakal anyway ?

Love the very WDITOT wave !

:spyder: Pikal or Pakal are words from various Filipino dialects meaning "reverse grip" or "icepick grip". In the very trend driven world of tactical schmactical knives it has been popularized to mean "tip down edge-in" but really the word implies either edge in or out. :spyder:

Ya, either spelling is correct. Southnarc usually spells it pikal; I think a majority usually spell it pakal. You say pickle, I say pickal :)

Michael, I have no doubt you're technically correct on what "pakal" means, but even outside the tactical schmactical world, in my experience FMA folks near-universally use "pakal" for reverse-grip edge-in and not more generally to just mean "reverse grip". Could just be a quirk of who I've spoken with, though.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Sal specifically requested that not be posted anywhere else but there. Just found this out.

Hard to read the fine print I guess.

We are at least 6 months away on this one, but keep the enthusiasm going! It's great! Pricing has not yet been determined. Once more details are clear, I'll share, promise. :D

The removeable wave is possibly the most ingenious thing I have seen this year. Should be standard on all tip up knives from now on, including the new enduras and delicas. ;)

I just hope the pic release wasn't too soon. This one doesn't deserve to go the way of the Tusok!

I handled the proto this summer and my one wish was that the handle was just a tad longer so it could work as an impact tool when closed. But the add-on wave opener was not included in the proto at the time, I love it. Pure genius! If you want a preview of how this knife operates and the souple action, try a D'allara drop point that's a 'budget' pickle for sure. You can even set it up (lefty clip) to carry and draw in pakal style.

Ok, and the important question everybody is missing: What kind of lock is on this one?

I think it's a revision of the ball bearing lock ... same general principle, but looks like they've found a way to offer one-handed closing using some kind of bar instead of a ball.

Wow, what a great innovative design! mmmmm I love the removable wave feature, Wire clip, G10, Wharncliffe blade.

I've wanted to try a waved knife and I think that I'll give it a try with this knife. The problem is...I can't wait 6 months :D
