Just found this from Apr 5, 2021, on BladeForums:

“Our hi-performance Delica is just beginning to go forward. High hollow grind, thin edge, I'd like K390. Should be fun and eye opening.”
Can't wait. Probably buy 2 if they let me.

Naturally, we listen and we try to please. Eric has plans for an FRN scale for the Shaman. I've designed two follow up models; 1) a gutted version fr lighter weight and the other has no finger choil.

Looks great. Anyone still holding out hope for a Stretch XL eventually?
Funny you should mention it, I'm testing an early prototype.

Hat's off to you Larrin. I'm carrying a Manix with Magnacut. Very sharp. Took a beautiful edge. Also doing very well in our corrosion test tank, after 10 days. Gonna be fun.

From the What Will Be the First Magnacut Model? thread.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Now here is a bombshell! From the elastic ceramics thread on the mule team forum. It looks like we may get some of the super ceramic that out cuts the best of steels by almost a factor of two for the mule!
Thank you Sal!!!

In a thread about switching all golden models over to s45vn:

There are so many new steels popping up lately that any plans that might have been made might be adjusted.

sal
Purely speculation, but I wonder if this means s45vn has been edged out by Magnacut? That’d be a pretty incredible default production steel.

It's kind of sounds like an improved cruwear, which happens to my favorite!

How about a game changer like this?
A new ceramic material that is in the league of the super steels and possibly to become a mule or more.

“Hi all,

The CATRA tests were very positive. It performed up there with the super steels. As Roman mentioned, sharpening and re-testing is a current focus.

Hi Roman, I'll get back to you today. It's been a hectic week.

On The Wildfire model, we'd have to make the Millie FF model in Golden and Golden is pretty far behind. I have a plastic model of a sheepfoot Millie and we're still testing wire cutters and Fireman's "2 pronged fork" for breaking barbed wire.

Hi Skeeg,

The steel will be VG-10. I had wanted K390, but the steel was too hard to grind the high hollow. Since it was geometry we are testing, I figured VG-10 would be a good steel for comparison.

VG-10 with a high, thin hollow grind will be amazing.

Hopefully it performs/sells well so we can get an Endura in the same configuration.

To be honest, I've not had much luck with Sandvik.

They've come to see us at shows both in the US and Europe. I spoke with their metallurgists as well. A number of years ago, in Germany, they offered 14c to me. I said I thought that was exclusive to Kershaw. They said not any more??? Couldn't get a why?

I ordered steel from them a number of times at the shows. 19c for a Mule team, 14c for testing, etc. They never delivered or followed up??? Surprising, Hitachi would send me 1,000 lbs of any steel they made, (except ZDP) on credit. Crucible, powdered Cruwear for us as a surprise for our Mule Team. They made SPY-27 for me and Magnacut for Larrin. The President of Takefu would regularly pay us a visit at the Blade show. We worked with Carpenter for years testing their blade steels as they were developing them. We've never had a problem with B.U.

I don't know why we never heard a peep back from Sandvik?

Not exactly casual, but some pretty interesting and confusing industry drama maybe?
